Profile view of aMunificent-class frigate
TheMunificent-class was 825meters in length and had a skeletal look, owing to the fact that these ships required a small crew to operate and were not designed to becarriers. Along the longitudinal spines of the ship rantensor fields and theinertial compensator that helped maintain the structural integrity of the vessel.[3]
They had four extensivesensor andcommunications arrays affixed to the center of the hull in a cross-pattern. Several docking rings were located underneath these and the vertical arrays also had room for severalpoint-defense cannons.[3]
Offensive and defensive systems[]
Banking Clanstar frigates were lightCISwarships armed for heavy combat with oversized guns, a massive twinturbolaser cannon, and two long-rangeion cannons for use againstcapital ships.[3]

Complementing the heavy weaponry were 38 point-defenselaser cannons for anti-starfighter firepower, and 26 twin turbolaser cannons and 20 light turbolaser turrets for flexible response.[3]
The twin turbolaser cannon was powerful enough to melt an icemoon measuring 1,000 km in diameter or pierce theshields of a 10 km-wideGrade III battle station.[3]
FiveMunificents were unable to stop theResolute when it was trying torescueBolla Ropal.[8]
The ship had high-performance sensors with a range of several light-days positioned on the dorsal side of the ship. A forward scanner was situated on top of the vessel's command tower. These sensors were top-of-the-line, able to even sense mass due to a mid-war refit followingAdmiral Trench's first encounter withAnakin Skywalker.[3]
Complement[]

B1 battle droids in the hallway of a frigate
Each ship of the class was capable of carrying 150,000battle droids for boarding or ground operations, and were capable of shieldingdroid starfighters within their hulls. A system of docking rings lined the sides of each ship. In the forward hollow areas, war materials could be stored for transfer, while intimes of peace, they were used to transfer valuable financial assets.[3]
In order to compensate for its lack of a hangar, it instead transported up to four squadrons ofdroid star fighters. These ships were also heavily shielded and could withstand significant firepower until destruction. However, its hollow hull was highly vulnerable to Republic attacks if its shields failed.
Propulsion systems[]
The class was powered by twin reactors, placed side by side towards the middle of the craft. One reactor was enough to power the ship in an emergency. The two reactors together annihilated up to 2,300 tons of fuel per second. TheMunificent's superdense reactant tanks were positioned at the ventral side of the ship, underneath the reactors. A series of power feeds ran from the reactors out to the various antennas and sensor systems, where power cells were stored.[3]
Bridge tower[]

AMunificent-class's bridge.
The command tower on aMunificent-class ship was located at the bow, rising diagonally from the superstructure. The tower contained a turbolift shaft that connected the various stations. Wide panorama windows were located on each level, providing good view of the surrounding area.[3]
The bridge itself was sparsely equipped with a few terminals on multiple levels, rising up like a pyramid. The ship commander stood at the top, with one operator on each side.[10]
History[]

Several frigates overCato Neimoidia during the Clone Wars
Manufactured byHoersch-Kessel Drive, Inc. andGwori Revolutionary Industries, the star frigates were used by the Banking Clan to defend their private, secure comm network, harassworlds heavily in debt, transfer key financial assets, and guard treasure vaults. TheMunificent-class acted as a key component of the Banking Clan's network by carryinghyperwave transceivers and communications arrays that allowed secure financial transactions to occur acrossthe galaxy.[3]
When the Banking Clan joined the Confederacy,ChairmanSan Hill devoted a fleet of star frigates to the cause. The class became a staple of theConfederate Navy during theClone Wars and formed the backbone of the fleet,[11] with tens of thousands produced. The ships' hulls bore the blue-and-white Confederate emblem and paint scheme, although many ships also bore both the green stripes of the Banking Clan and the Confederate colors. Towards the end of the war, thousands ofMunificent-class frigates participated in theBattle of Coruscant.[3]

Munificent-class star frigates assisted the navigation and coordination of Confederacy fleets deep in enemy space. They also escorted and coordinated Separatist fleet actions such as attacks on the interstellarHoloNet relays to demoralize and isolateGalactic Republic forces. The Confederacy also took advantage of the star frigate's powerful antennae to broadcast anti-Republic propaganda while using its jamming devices to hinder enemy sensors, targeting systems and distress calls. During the war, most, if not all, were called in for refit after Admiral Trench was defeated by a cloaked vessel, strengthening their sensors to the level of even mass detection.[3]
After the Clone Wars ended, many crews took theirMunificents past the reaches of theGalactic Empire, becoming pirates and mercenaries. Some vessels later ended up in theRebel Alliance, where many ships were extensively modified to the point where they barely resembled their original design.[5]
Behind the scenes[]
The officialDatabank entry on the frigate indicates that the organic, rounded appearance[1] for the starship was meant to provide a stark opposite to the clean, triangular designs of Galactic Republic and Imperial starships, instead being more similar to theMon Calamari cruisers participating in theBattle of Endor.
In the young readers adaptationThe Clone Wars: Grievous Attacks!, the starships are erroneously identified as freighters in theMission to sweep outer corridor of space chapter.
It should also be noted that the warship's depiction inStar Wars: Battlefront II is fairly different from that seen in the film; specifically, it is much simpler in design and somewhat truncated in appearance. Also, inBattlefront II, the ship is called 'Banking Clan Comms Ship'.
