In9 BBY,^[2]Jedi Knight Cal Kestis took amission to theCentral Manse on theOuter Rim Territories planet Koboh in search of answers about fallenHigh Republic Era Jedi KnightDagan Gera and his quest for theplanet Tanalorr, hidden in theKoboh Abyss. Kestis was sent there byJedi Master Eno Cordova, who learned fromThe Archive on themoon Jedha that the Manse had been Gera's retreat. On the way there, Kestis was attacked by abounty hunter working for theHaxion Brood syndicate namedKorej Lim, but defeated the hunter in combat. After the fight, he was approached by retired bounty hunterCaij Vanda, who asked for his help in taking down bounty hunters that were coming to Koboh for both of them.^[1]

Continuing on his mission, Kestis encountered and defeated manyBedlam Raiders on his journey and retrieved aKoboh matter grinder for hisdroid,BD-1. Kestis eventually reached the Manse and itsGrand Courtyard, where he was attacked bylightsaber-wielding Bedlam RaiderTague Louesh, who Kestis defeated incombat. Within the structure, Kestis found anAbyss compass and learned via hispsychometry that two Jedi had destroyed the compass to keep a fallen Gera from using it, but both were killed by Gera. After retrieving the compass, Kestis decided to bring it back to Cordova on Jedha so that the Jedi Master could study it.^[1]
