Minas Velti was ahuman female Jedi Master who wielded agreen-bladedlightsaber. In19 BBY, toward the end of theClone Wars, she wastraining agroup ofyounglings at theJedi Temple on theplanet Coruscant whenclone troopers of the501st Legion stormed thetemple as part ofOperation: Knightfall. Velti attempted to defend theyounglings but ultimatelyperished during the siege.

Minas Velti defended her students during the Siege of the Jedi Temple.

Minas Velti served theJedi Order^[1] and theGalactic Republic^[5] as aJedi Master during theClone Wars.^[1] In19 BBY,^[2] Velti led agroup ofJedi Initiates—includingFaris andReva Sevander—^[4]throughmeditation exercises^[6] on a balcony within theJedi Temple on^[4] theplanet^[7]Coruscant,^[4] herhomeworld.^[1] Carrying outOrder 66^[4]—thecommand forclone troopers toeliminate theJedi^[7]—twotroopers of the501st Legion interrupted the training by opening fire on Velti and herstudents. Velti deflected theblaster bolts andeliminated the troopers.^[4]

The Jedi Master ushered theyounglings through thetemple and continued to defend them from the ongoing siege. Despite cutting down multipleclones, Velti was soon overwhelmed as she brought the children to the main hall. Velti fell to ablaster bolt to herstomach as she killed the last clone immediately threatening the children. Afterward, the younglings grieved over her body before deciding they had to continue running;^[4] however, they then encountered the fallen JediDarth Vader and fell to hislightsaber, with only Sevander surviving.^[8] Later, clone troopers searched the Jedi Temple to catalog the Jedi that perished,^[9] which included Velti.^[4] The fallen Jedi's lightsaber was collected along with the other abandoned sabers.^[9]

Minas Velti was ahuman^[1]female^[3] withblack hair, tan skin, and browneyes. During the attack on the Jedi Temple, Velti valiantly^[1] aided the attempted escape of her five students but was ultimately killed.^[4]

Minas Velti first appeared in "Part I," the first episode of the television seriesStar Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi,^[4] which premiered onMay 26,2022.^[11] While unnamed in the episode, the credits identified her as "Jedi Master Minas Velti," and she was portrayed byMing Qiu. Director^[4]Deborah Chow chose Qiu to play the character, for which Qiu expressed gratitude. OnInstagram, Qiu thanked Chow, stunt coordinatorJonathan Eusebio, the actors who played the Jedi younglings, and the cast and crew.^[10]

The2023 ToppsStar Wars collectible card set, which released onAugust 4,2023,^[12] featured cards of individuals, including Velti, with their "homeworld" listed.^[1]Lucasfilm Story Group memberPablo Hidalgo has described the set's use of the term as a "poor choice" of description for planets that the characters were merely associated with.^[13] This article, however, assumes that the information on Velti's card is still applicable.
