TheMaoi were amorphous sapients indigenous toKathol and were created by the ancient Kathol race. TheDarkStryder considered them amoral and self-centered, and attempted to discard them in theSegmi tunnels after theRift Disaster. Despite this, the Maoi survived and thrived in their underground environment. Like other Kathol servants, they developed an affinity with theTa-Ree life energy and used it to hold their prey while they devoured it. They did this by forcing themselves through the mouth and into the body of the prey; where they would digest the prey from the inside out by eating the internal organs with powerful digestive acids.
