Biology and appearance[]

The species could spit an acidic substance from its mouth.
One of severalspecies that belonged to the greaterkrayt dragon designation, the leviathan krayt dragon[3] was a creature that had sixteenlimbs ending in five clawed digits, a spiny tail, and a large head protected bybony armor.[1] When threatened, it could also project aharmful ichor directly from itsmouth, causing the organic tissues of the target to dissolve. Like other kraytdragons, it could developpearls inside its gizzard,[4] which were highly sought after by jewelers, artisans, and wealthy collectors.[5]
Behavior[]
Like its cousin, thegreater krayt dragon,[6] that species submerged themselves in the shifting sand dunes and emerged toconsume their prey. The dragon would alsohibernate longer given sufficient sustenance to do so, and could allegedly sense the vibrations of astarship flying nearby.[4]
History[]
In3 ABY, a krayt dragon pearl was stolen fromTusken Raiders by bandits. CriminalKay Vess recovered the pearl for the Tuskens in exchange forSullustanHoss, who was held hostage by the Tuskens. During her search for a tooth coming from asarlacc's second mouth, Vess encountered a krayt dragon.[7]

The citizens of Mos Pelgo fought side by side with Tusken Raiders to eliminate the krayt.
A krayt dragon had eaten asarlacc and taken up residence in itsabandoned pit. Said dragon became a nuisance to a tribe of Tusken Raiders and the citizens ofMos Pelgo living nearby, often eating their livestock or damaging their equipment, and overall bearing a risk to their safety. This specimen was later killed by said Tusken Raiders and citizens, with the aid ofDin Djarin andCobb Vanth, though it had, in turn, sprayed and killed many of its assailants with its acid. The tribe of Tusken Raiders took much of its meat and its pearl.[4] The ribs were incorporated into the structure of theMos Pelgo saloon, and a group of Jawas adorned theirsandcrawler with the dragon's skull.[8]
