Biography[]
Extension of Palpatine's will[]
Krdys Mordi was aHuman[2]male[3]Dark Jedi in service to theGalactic EmperorPalpatine,[2] who wasreborn in aclone body after hisdeath at theBattle of Endor[2] in4 ABY.[5] The reincarnatedEmperor ruled his clandestineDark Empire—the latest incarnation of the once-dominantGalactic Empire—from theDeep Coreworld ofByss.[6] During thistime, Mordi became a member of Palpatine'sDark Side Elite, a group of seven Dark Jedi empowered with thedark side of the Force by the Emperor himself.[2]

The reborn Emperor Palpatine's death at Pinnacle Base
In10 ABY,[7] Palpatine died again during abattle with theJedi siblingsLuke Skywalker andLeia Organa Solo, near theNew Republic'sPinnacle Base.[8] In the aftermath of Palpatine's death, the leader of the Dark Side Elite,ExecutorSedriss QL, took command of the Imperial forces and oversawOperation Shadow Hand, a series of strikes intending to place neutral planets under firm Imperial rule.[2]
Operation Shadow Hand[]
- "The fool has throwneverything at us. Thetrap is sprung—! Pull back the troops, Mordi."
"Gladly, Sedriss." - ―Sedriss QL and Krdys Mordi, during the Battle of Balmorra[2]
One of the targets of Sedriss's campaign was thefactory world ofBalmorra. After the death of the Emperor,GovernorHinch Beltane of Balmorra had started supplying the New Republic withweapons, an arrangement that Sedriss was determined to end.[2] As one of Sedriss's sergeants-at-arms,[9] Mordi, alongside fellow Dark JediVill Goir, accompanied the Executor to Balmorra aboard theStar DestroyerAvenger, joining anImperial fleet already assembled inorbit of the planet.[2]

Upon the group's arrival, Sedriss offered Beltane a chance to surrender his operations to the Empire and face execution, lest the Empire launch a full-scale invasion of the planet. Beltane did not heed Sedriss's threats, believing that Sedriss would not dare risk damaging Balmorranfactories in a direct assault, as they still produced weaponry for the Empire as well. Mordi concurred with Beltane's point of view, reminding Sedriss that Balmorran factories were currently manufacturing the newSD-10 battle droid model, which were meant to replace the Empire's outdatedSD-9 model.[2]
However, Sedriss had formulated a plan that would allow him to conquer the planet without damaging the factories. As such, he proceeded with the attack, launching groundtroops under thecommand ofCaptainMaximilian Veers. When Balmorrandroids fully engaged Sedriss's invasion troops and were drawn from thecapital,Bin Prime, to the open plains surrounding it, the Executor ordered Mordi to pull back the Empire's forces and launched his secret weapon, the new highly advancedShadow Droidstarfighters.[2]
The Shadow Droids temporarily turned the tide of the battle in favor of the Empire. However, Beltane had a trick of his own, deploying the newly developedX-1 Viper Automadons at the invasion force. Amazed at the firepower of Beltane's creation, Sedriss contacted the governor and acknowledged his victory. Mordi and Goir disagreed with that decision, believing that Sedriss should have simply ordered hisfleet to initiate anorbital bombardment of the planet. However, Sedriss wanted to obtain the X-1 droids for himself before attempting any punishing actions against Beltane, and he negotiated a treaty with the governor, granting Balmorra freedom and purchasing a number of X-1 Vipers from him.[2]
Abduction of Skywalker[]
- "The poison will work quickly.Take him, Mordi!"
"Yes, Tedryn!" - ―Tedryn-Sha and Krdys Mordi, trying to capture Luke Skywalker[3]
Shortly after the Battle of Balmorra, Palpatine was resurrected on Byss in his final available clone body.[2] He took control of the Empire once again and successfullydestroyed the New Republic's Pinnacle Base on themoonDa Soocha V with his newsuperweapon, theGalaxy Gun.[10] The New Republic was forced to retreat to a secretsanctuary world, where Organa Solo was hiding hertwinchildren, whom the Emperor wanted to capture and turn to the dark side.[3]
The Emperor soon learned the name of the hidden planet,New Alderaan, as well as its coordinates, from the captured New RepublicMajorNtthan. Palpatine then sent the Dark Side Elite there under the command ofXecr Nist, his newly appointed Executor. Nist was a replacement for Sedriss,[3] who had recently beenkilled in battle with Skywalker.[11] Mordi and the otherdarksiders boarded theirI-7 Howlrunnerstarships and departed from their headquarters ofBast Castle on the planetVjun[3] asDark Side Squadron. Uponarrival on New Alderaan, the Dark Side Elite split up. Nist took four Dark Jedi with him and went to abduct the Solotwins while Mordi was dispatched alongside Palpatine's second-in-command,Tedryn-Sha, to confront Skywalker himself.[4]

Mordi and Sha were instructed to incapacitate theJedi Master with specializedscarab droids while he wasasleep so that he could be taken captive.[4]Hiding their presence from the sleeping Jedi withthe Force, the two darksiders reached his room and released the scarab droids upon Skywalker through awindow. The droids administered a powerfulpoison into the Jedi's nervous system, and the two Dark Jedi entered the room to capture Skywalker. However, in his delirium, Skywalker let out a loud scream, which alerted his sister Leia and one of Skywalker'saspiring Jedi,Jem Ysanna. The two women rushed to Skywalker's help, and Ysanna immediately killed Mordi byslicing him across the torso with herlightsaber. Sha killed her in response with ablaster shot but was himself slain by Organa Solo with a lightsaber strike. Mordi and Sha's incursion was ultimately a failure, as Skywalker was healed from the effects of the poison by the elderly JediVima-Da-Boda.[3]
Personality and traits[]
- "By the dark side, Tedryn—more Jedi! But they are onlywomen!
" - ―Krdys Mordi[3]

Krdys Mordi underestimated the combat prowess of Jedi women, such as Jem Ysanna, resulting in his death.
Krdys Mordi was a Dark Jedi loyal to Palpatine and his Dark Empire. During the Battle of Balmorra, Mordi initially advised Sedriss QL against launching an invasion of the planet, afraid of damaging Balmorra's factories, which were producing the much-needed Imperial SD-10 droids. However, as Balmorra's Governor Beltane continued to show defiance, Mordi expressed an opinion that Sedriss needed to bombard the planet to show the governor the error of his ways.[2]
On New Alderaan, Mordi was initially not impressed with Luke Skywalker after seeing him asleep, believing that the Jedi posed no threat in that state.[4] He later underestimated Jem Ysanna and Leia Organa Solo as well, based on the single fact that they were women—a mistake that led to his demise. The Dark Jedi had light skin andeyes that glowedyellow.[3]
Powers and abilities[]
- "They masked their thoughts…I never sensed their approach!"
- ―Luke Skywalker, on Krdys Mordi and Tedryn-Sha[3]
Mordi was aForce-sensitive who was empowered with the dark side by Palpatine himself, becoming a Dark Jedi.[2] He could hide his presence in the Force, which allowed him to sneak up on Luke Skywalker undetected on New Alderaan. Mordi flew an I-7 Howlrunner[3] as part of Dark Side Squadron.[4]
Equipment[]
During his service to Palpatine, Mordi was dressed in anoutfit similar to his cohorts in the Dark Side Elite, wearing a darkrobe with a longcape and a hood that covered his head, as well as massiveboots andgauntlets. During the Battle of Balmorra, he also woreglasses and carried astaff.[2]
Behind the scenes[]

Tom Veitch, the author ofDark Empire II 1
The Dark Jedi Mordi first appeared in thefirst issue of thecomic seriesStar Wars: Dark Empire II, written byTom Veitch, illustrated byCam Kennedy,[2] and published byDark Horse Comics onDecember 20,1994.[12] OnMay 23,1995,[13] the character returned in thefinal issue ofDark Empire, in which he was provided with the first name "Krdys" and was killed off.[3] Mordi was originally set to debut in Veitch's proposed short novel,Lightsider, which would have taken place beforeDark Empire II and would have introduced the Dark Side Elite. However,Lightsider was never published.[14]
In the 1995Dark Empire II audio drama, Mordi is absent during the invasion of Balmorra scenes, with Vill Goir serving as Sedriss's sole advisor. Mordi does appear in the audio drama during the events on New Alderaan, and he has a brief exchange of dialogue with Jem Ysanna, challenging her to a fight.[4] In the original comic, Mordi is killed immediately after the Jedi women rush to Skywalker's aid, with no dialogue spoken between them.[3]2000's comic guideStar Wars Handbook 3:Dark Empire, written byPeet Janes, states that Mordi underwent the initiation into the Dark Side Elite alongside Xecr Nist. This contradicts[15] theMarch 21, 1995[16]fourth issue of theDark Empire II comic series, which features Tedryn-Sha as the other subject of the initiation beside Nist,[17] whileDark Empire II 1 shows that Mordi had already been a member of the group by that point.[2]
