B1-series battle droids served as the main infantry of theTrade Federation Droid Army and theSeparatist Droid Army.
Infantry was the branch of anarmy consisting ofsoldiers trained to fight on foot. Infantrymen, colloquially referred to as "grunts," were also collectively known asground forces. In order to survive on thebattlefield, they relied on their training and equipment almost as much as they relied on one another.[2] Every member of theResistance received infantry training.[3]
