Imperial City,[13] formerly calledGalactic City,[3] andRepublic City,[14] was the name of the denseecumenopolis that covered the surface levels of theplanetCoruscant. It comprised the entirety ofLevel 5127. Areas of thecity included theSenate District,The Works, andCoCo Town. Built over thousands ofyears,Galactic City was home to over a trillion individuals.[3]
Underneath Galactic City were the thousands of lower levels of Coruscant collectively called theunderworld.[3]
