"There are many things the Hutts influence and possess that would be useful to us."
―Maul, to the Grand Hutt Council[11]

TheHutt Clan, also known as theHutt Families, and theHutt Cartel or just theHutt clans, was aHuttcrime family that made its riches throughsmuggling and myriad illegal businesses onworlds across a region ofspacehomonymous with thespecies name. The Hutt Clan was led by individuals on theGrand Hutt Council, the ruling body ofNal Hutta.

DuringHigh Republic Era, the Hutt Clan saw the spread of peace and prosperity across thegalaxy as a threat to their ambitions, and sought to reduce the influence of the expandingGalactic Republic. They also had tocontend with the carnivorousDrengirspecies and the anarchisticmaraudersNihil but were typically not known to venture into Republic space due to sanctions upon the Hutt Clan regarding outstanding trade issues.

By the time of theClone Wars, it was one of the most powerful crime families in the galaxy. The Hutts' had a large influence and power over theOuter Rim -- specifically itshyperspace lanes. Due to this, the Hutt Clanaligned itself with the Galactic Republic in its war effort against theConfederacy of Independent Systems. The chaos of the war allowed the Hutt Clan to expand their influence to the far reaches of the galaxy. However, much of the Hutts territorial expansion was itself contained by large swatches of Separatist space.

By the time of theImperial Era, the cartel remained under the control of Grand Hutt Council and was part of theFive Crime Syndicates. At one point, the Hutt Clan were involved in a series oftrade wars with theInterGalactic Banking Clan. During theGalactic Civil War, they clashed on multiple occasions with agroup ofmercenaries operating on theplanetTatooine, and established an alliance with theGalactic Empire. When anauction was announced byCrimson Dawn leaderQi'ra, the Grand Hutt Council participated but was invaded byDarth Vader, who after aninsurrection inJekara's orbit with Imperial forces, provoked byBokku, the Council was killed by Darth Vader, leaving Jabba as the sole leader of the Hutt Cartel before his owndeath onTatooine shortly after.

After the fall of the Galactic Empire, the Hutt Clan entered into a period of decline as their power waned significantly without Jabba, allowing other criminal organizations to flourish in its absence. By21 ABY, the Hutt Cartel power had decreased to the point thatJedi MasterLuke Skywalker reasoned that some of theWeequay working forOchi of Bestoon were former mercenaries that had abandoned the failing cartel.

Description[]

Operations[]

The Hutt Clan was an ancient[13] and powerful criminal cartel active inthe galaxy,[14] particularly in theOuter Rim Territories[15] and an entire territory directly under the control of theHuttspecies[11] known asHutt Space.[16] Despite its singular name of the "Hutt Clan"[9] or "Hutt Cartel," however, the syndicate was composed of many different, individual Hutt families[17] identified asKajidic clans.[18] To maintain their power and wealth,[14] the Hutts used fear, intimidated their subjects,[17] and had their hands in a number of illegal businesses.Slavery andpiracy in specific were major sources of their wealth.[14] Other enterprises includedbounty hunting,smuggling,[19] and thespice trade. The Hutts would also use their power to control entirehyperspace routes to control the smuggling of legal and illegal goods alike.[14]

Like theCar'das smugglers, the Hutt Clan purchased large numbers of theM3-A Scyk interceptors produced byMandalMotors because of their customizability and low cost.[20] The cartel also made use ofGozanti Armed Transports[13] andHH-87 Starhopper, which would become known as "Hutt starfighters" due to their service in the Hutts' criminal enterprise.[21] The Hutts took advantage of conflict and the rebuilding efforts in the wake of those battles. Hutt transmissions also made use ofRigariam, a dead language.[22] Certain Hutt-controlled planets, such asMataou, were identified as "jewel worlds."[23]Jabba's criminal empire also mined and soldrhydonium tospacers, with mining platforms onSaracor,Tralgaria, andAbafar unearthing the fuel.[24]

Leadership and center of power[]

«We represent our people. Theirhonor. Theirpower. We are theHutt Council.»
Bokku[25]
The Grand Hutt Council in a meeting

The Grand Hutt Council in a meeting

The Hutt Clan was ruled by members of theGrand Hutt Council, which was located on theHutthomeworld ofNal Hutta[9] and included a number of high-profile, influential Hutt leaders, who represented their respective crimeclan-families.[26] Lesser-ranking Hutts who controlled territory in the name of the cartel were granted the title "Master of the Hutt Clan." If one of these Hutts controlled multiplestar systems, they were granted the title for each system they held authority over.[3]

The Hutt Clan was based inHutt Space, which held a reputation as a haven for smugglers, bounty hunters, and other denizens of the galaxy. Nal Hutta was the headquarters of the Grand Hutt Council.[16][27] As a Hutt Council member and later sole leader of the cartel,[2]crime lordJabba Desilijic Tiure exerted great influence over the entire Hutt enterprise[3] despite, in theory, only representing his own crime family,[26] theDesilijic Tiure clan.[28] Jabba's power truly was so great thatCountDooku and Jabba's uncle,Ziro Desilijic Tiure, considered him the leader of every Hutt clan.[3] Even then, he would need the council's approval for certain, highly-important operations.[26] While he would attend Council meetings viahologram, Jabba remained centered on theplanetTatooine within hispersonal palace.[11] From Tatooine, Jabba held influence over business in the entirety of the Outer Rim Territories.[14]

History[]

High Republic Era[]

Taking advantage of the Forever War[]

"Stars, you're naive. The Hutts obviously had a father in the race. They've profited royally from the war, but could profit even more in peace. All those planets needing help to rebuild? You can be sure the benevolent Hutt Cartel will be there to wheedle their grubby little hands into local governments, preferably before the Republic sweeps in with its glittering reforms. Who knows how many strings those overgrown slugs pulled to get the peace talks to the point they were, and now things are worse than ever? One thing is certain: our name is mud as far as Nal Hutta is concerned."
―Shea Ganandra[22]

During the period of theHigh Republic Era where the galaxy's communications network was still being established,[29] Hutt communications proved to be furthering reaching than and more stable than the Republic's own network.Shea Ganandra, a talentedengineer who was part of thePath of the Open Handcult, first hacked into the Hutt network when she was eight years old despite the difficulty.[22]

The Hutt Clan took advantage of theEiram and E'ronoh War but stood ready to secure even more fortune by helping in the rebuilding process, with Ganandra suspecting they played a role in getting peace talks up and running. If the Hutts could get the attention of local planetary governments before the Republic, Ganandra reasoned, they could make a fortune by being part of the rebuilding process. When theBattle of Jedha ended the peace process and the Path was suspected of being responsible for the downfall of those talks, a Hutt communication intercepted by Ganandra made reference to those suspicions, revealing to Ganandra the Hutt Clan officially was opposed to their group. Unknown to Ganandra and most Path members,[22] their leaders were indeed responsible for shutting down the peace talks to drag out the war.[30]

Further schemes[]

«Rejoice, wretched creatures. Your planet is now the property of the glorious Hutt Cartel.»
―Myarga Anjiliac Atirue, to the people of Sedri Minor[31]

During the era of theHigh Republic, the Hutt Clan was not blind to the danger the swell of peace and prosperity spreading acrossthe galaxy was for their ambitions. They plotted with a leader of theDirectorate,LordIsamer,[32] in 257 BBY[33] to reduce the influence of the Galactic Republic and theJedi Order in the Directorate's region of space. This plan triggered theEiram–E'ronoh crisis, which successfully collapsed the Directorate as had been the Hutt plan all along. They now had no major criminal rival in the region, opening the path for future operations.[32]

Twenty-five years later,[34] a ship of the Hutt Cartel arrived on the planetSedri Minor to fulfill an agreed-upon bargain, which would supposedly deliver the colonists from tyranny.[31]Jedi MasterAvar Kriss established a controversial alliance with the Hutts in the name of putting an end to theDrengir crisis,[35] resulting in Jedi fighting side-by-side with the cartel'ssoldiers andMyarga Anjiliac Atirue against theDrengir. The alliance ended during theassault on Mulita through the defeat of theGreat Progenitor, although the Jedi and Hutt Clan parted on bad terms when Kriss refused to allow Myarga to destroy the incapacitated Drengir leader.[36] Myarga was later captured by theNihil marauders, who held her captive on the planetXais. During an ensuingJedi operation, she revealed the presence of undercover JediKeeve Trennis in the name of saving herself, but Myarga was quickly murdered by NihilTempest RunnerLourna Dee.[37]

Late Republic Era[]

In33 BBY,[38] the Hutt Cartel consisted of five crime families. By that time, the overall Hutt Clan was also part of the so-calledFive Crime Syndicates, a grouping of five incredibly powerful syndicates that exerted great influence over the criminal underworld.[39] During the final days of theRepublic Era, Jabba Desilijic Tiure and his fellowHutts presided over Tatooine'spodraces. Notably during theInvasion of Naboo, Jabba was present when thehumanslaveAnakin Skywalker won theBoonta Eve Classic in what was considered a monumentous event.[15]

Jabba was also possibly at the event for business, as ahologram image depicting Jabba payingbounty hunterAurra Sing after the crash ofpodracerNeva Kee was acquired bypoliceinspectorTan Divo. The image displayed two of Jabba's henchmen pulling Kee out of hispodracer. All identifying authentimarks were scrubbed from the hologram, so it was unclear if it was legitimate. If it was true, it suggested Sing and Jabba had a hand in what happened to Kee. Divo also developed a theory thatFarwan & Glott, the original manufacturers of Kee's podracer, had hired Sing so that they could acquire the racer's customization secrets.[40]

By theSeparatist Crisis, the influence of the Hutts was great enough to warrant a political faction of theGalactic Senate of the Galactic Republic, theMilitarists, to advocate for a standing, centralized military to check Hutt expansion, pirates and organized crime.[41] The Hutts, nor any other criminal organization, never established a presence on the smallmoon ofRaada, as they understood the majority of its surface could not be used forfarming.[42]

Signing a treaty[]

"Perhaps now you will allow the Republic to use your trade routes, and hostilities can come to an end."
"«Agreed. A treaty is in order.»"
―Republic Senator Padmé Amidala closes negotiations with Jabba the Hutt —20?cb=20250116042720Link▶️(file info)[3]

During theClone Wars, the Hutts' power over theOuter Rim caused theirhyperspace lanes to be sought by both the Galactic Republic and theConfederacy of Independent Systems.[3] The chaos of the war allowed the Hutts to seize opportunities it provided to expand their influence to the far reaches of thegalaxy. In particular, the Hutts extended Hutt Space from its traditional holdings in the Outer Rim all the way into theExpansion Region to the edge of theMid Rim. With Republic forces busy engaging Separatist forces elsewhere, it was left to inadequate local system governments to defend themselves against Hutt influence. However, much of the Hutts territorial expansion was itself contained by large swatches of Separatist space.[41]

Also during the war, theBlack Sun andPyke Syndicate were considered rivals to the Hutt Clan.[41]

Early into the War,Rotta, the son of Jabba, was secretly kidnapped by the Separatists, orchestrated bySith Lord andHead of State Dooku with help from Jabba's uncle, Ziro Desilijic Tiure. The plot was meant to discredit the Jedi Order and scuttle negotiations between the Republic and the Hutts as well as make it look like the Hutt Clan was going to be wiped out, but his nemesisJedi KnightAnakin Skywalker and hisPadawanAhsoka Tano were able torescue Rotta from the Separatists. Thecrime lord had promised his support to whomever returned his son, and when Jabba's uncle Ziro, was revealed to have schemed Rotta's kidnapping with Dooku so he could take control of the Hutt Clan, Jabba pledged his support to the Republic.[3] The treaty allowed the Republic to navigate essential Hutt hyperspace lanes and circumvent Separatist space[41] while providing the Hutts with key trade routes within theMid Rim Territories.[43] Treaties between the Republic and Hutts also had the unintended effect of legitimizing Hutt operations.[40]

At another point in the War, Jabba hired bounty hunterCad Bane to get information on theSenate Building onCoruscant. After gaining the information, theGrand Hutt Council hired Bane to free Ziro before he revealed theCouncil's records, which were kept in aholodiary on Teth, to the Republic Senate in exchange for his freedom.[26][9] Thus, there was ahostage crisis that took place at theSenate Office Building on Coruscant, in which bounty hunters led by Bane held theSupreme ChancellorSheev Palpatine of the Republic and othersenators hostage in order to free Ziro from theCentral Detention Center. Ziro, with the help of Bane, escaped from the custody of the Republic.[44] However, twoJedi MastersQuinlan Vos andObi-Wan Kenobi— found himdead onTeth after he was killed by his loverSy Snootles, at the behest of Jabba.[9]

Crime raids on Mandalore[]

Near the end of the Clone Wars, theShadow Collective, a criminal alliance led by the renegadeSith LordMaul, landed at theHutt Palace onNal Hutta to gain the backing of the Grand Hutt Council for theircoup onMandalore. In the council chamber, Maul,Savage Opress, andPre Vizsla asked for the Hutts to join them by promising to spare their lives in exchange for the Hutt territories. The Council laughed at them, unimpressed by Maul's threats. Jabba called for his bounty hunters to stop them.Sugi, one of the bounty hunters, hurled a knife at Maul but it was stopped by Opress, who hurled it back and the bounty hunters opened fire. Maul and Opress cut through several guards while Vizsla set fire to the council table with hisflamethrower so that they could have a head start. The bounty hunters chased after them and a firefight began. The guards and bounty hunters retreated back inside. This time, Maul and his followers chased them back in.[11]

As more guards arrived to defend the palace, the Shadow Collective forces quickly cut though them. Sugi dropped down from above and knocked Vizsla over before getting into a fight with Maul. Maul knocked her to the floor and began swiping at her with hislightsaber, but she rolled out of the way of each strike. The bounty hunterEmbo got into a fight with Savage while hisAnoobaMarrok attacked Maul, knocking thelightsaber from his hands and saving Sugi. Savage continuously punched at Embo, who used his hat to block the punches but was knocked to the ground nevertheless. Vizsla drew theDarksaber and cut down numerous guards. Maul managed to throw Marrok off when severalsmoke bombs were thrown.Latts Razzi andDengar were at the end of the hall and yelled for their companions to get out. Embo, Sugi, and Marrok followed them, and Maul let them go. Maul then decided to go to Tatooine to confront Jabba.[11]

The Shadow Collective attacks Jabba's Palace

The Shadow Collectiveattacked the perimeter ofJabba's Palace, paving the path for Maul, Opress, and Vizsla into Jabba's inner sanctum. After a very brief and violent struggle proving the Collective to be the more formidable, Jabba agreed to surrender his criminal empire and the Hutt Clan and began channeling his resources to the organization's cause for an imminent takeover of theMandaloriancapitalcity,Sundari.[11] The Hutts then gave the Collective a few enforcers made up ofred-skinnedNiktos which would later prove useful in the takeover of Mandalore[45] ahead of the subsequentcivil war.[46] When Maul wascaptured for a period of time, the Hutts took advantage of the moment to withdraw from the alliance.[47]

Preserving influence[]

"For years, the Hutts have enjoyed a special relationship with the Empire. They enjoy protected status in their sector in exchange for performing valuable services for the Empire—outside the bounds of Imperial law. This deal has been in place for decades."
―Qi'ra[48]

The Hutt Clan continued to operate in the Outer Rim after the end of the Clone Wars and therise of theGalactic Empire with its victory over the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[49] Jabba continued his illicit operations during the Imperial Era, continuing to hold influence as a crime lord.[50] Their power base on thedesertworld of Tatooine was preserved.[49] However, the Hutts were also part of theFive Crime Syndicates,[12] all of whom found themselves under Maul's thumb and forced to ally together on his command[51] despite the Hutts' prior effort to distance themselves from Maul.[47]

The Hutt Clan and Empire established a special partnership. The Hutt Clan provided the Empire with certain important services, with the permission of the Empire to break Imperial law in order to provide that valuable aid. In return, the Empire also protected the clan's control over Hutt Space.[48] While the Empire was involved in the criminal underworld with other syndicates to a certain extent,[52] it was the Hutts who were awarded an incredibly special treatment by the Empire, which created jealously[48] amongst the other great crime families that wanted such a position.[53]

In9 BBY or8 BBY,[54] Tatooine was suffering from the effects of theGreat Drought, leavingmoisture farmers with littlewater to harvest and worsening conditions on the poor, backwater world. In the midst of the drought, henchmen for the crime lord Jabba the Hutt collected awater tax on their master's behalf. An eight-year-old boy,Luke Skywalker, son of Anakin Skywalker, had gone to take the water back from Jabba's men and give it back to the farmers. Kenobi, who had been watching over him, went to their encounter, but blew their vehicle's lights withthe Force to hide his identity and proceeded to disable all of Jabba's henchmen with the Force. On hearing about this, Jabba was furious and tried to find the man who had defied him.[49] On being unsuccessful he hired the bounty hunterKrrsantan to find Kenobi, and offered to pay him extra for bringing him alive.[55]

The droidArr-Nine-Nineteen became indebted to the Hutt Clan and became a spy for the cartel, claiming himself to be aJedi hunter and going undercover into acrew assembled by theHidden Hand. However, crew leaderBeilert Valance deduced the droid's true loyalties and destroyed him.[56] The Hutts were involved in a series oftrade wars with theInterGalactic Banking Clan. TheVice Chairman of the Clan,Anolo, hired aGivin codebreaker, who was connected to an Imperial algorithm that made security codes, to wage a campaign to take control of the Hutt Clan's smuggling routes, but Jabba also learned of theGivin, hiring bounty hunterGreedo to lead amission to Mygeeto to capture the Givin. However, Greedo ultimately failed; the Givin fell to death after Greedo overestimated how strong a grabbling line was.[57]

Jabba talks to his smuggler Han Solo

Jabba talks to his smuggler Han Solo

One smuggler Jabba hired for his operations wasCaptainHan Solo, who became the best smuggler on Jabba's payroll.[50] Solo's standing was jeopardized, however, when his ship, theMillennium Falcon, was boarded by Imperial authorities, forcing Solo to jettison his cargo. Jabba demanded compensation for the lost cargo and, when Solo did not pay, the crime lord sent bounty hunters after him. One such hunter was Greedo, who confronted Solo in acantina inMos Eisley, but Solo killed theRodian bounty hunter before he could kill Solo. Jabba learned of this and found Solo inDocking Bay 94, where the smuggler said that he had no choice but to dump his cargo. Jabba agreed to give Solo an extension on the payment in exchange for additional interest. Solo accepted the offer, but he soon became involved in theAlliance to Restore the Republic and once again failed to pay Jabba.[19] When Jabba learned that Solo had joined the Rebellion, Jabba placed a large bounty on the smuggler's head.[50]

Galactic Civil War[]

"…you must finish your dealings with the Hutt. If he cannot bring an agent to the Core, we must go to the Outer Rim. We have no time to open conversations with the Crymorah or any of the other crime lords. He will expect you in two days' time. Make the deal."
―Darth Sidious, to Darth Vader[10]
The Empire makes the deal with the Hutts.

The Empire makes the deal with the Hutts.

Following theBattle of Yavin, the Galactic Empire began to cut into Hutt Clan trade in an effort to reduce their independence[58] but also needed the cartel's help in securing raw materials to be used in providing the raw resources required to create weapons and starships to fuel itsmilitary operations following the destruction of theDeath Star. As such, the Empire arranged for a negotiation to be held at an Imperial facility onCymoon 1, whereDarth Vader would represent the Empire and force the Clan representatives to agree to Imperials terms. However, the Rebel Alliance learned of the impending talks; the Alliance intercepted the shuttle from Tatooine that carried Jabba's emissary, stealing it to allow theHeroes of Yavin to pose as the envoy andattack the Imperial facility.[10]

Galactic Emperor Palpatine then sent Darth Vader to negotiate with Jabba following the loss ofWeapons Factory Alpha during the rebel assault on Cymoon 1. The negotiations were a continuation of what was meant to take place on Cymoon 1. However, Vader arrived on Tatooine earlier than scheduled to hire two bounty hunters for assignments that the Sith Lord kept secret from the Emperor. Jabba provided him withBoba Fett, who Vader tasked with finding theRebel pilot who destroyed the Death Star, and Black Krrsantan, who Vader tasked with capturingCylo, an agent of the Emperor. After attending to his personal mission, Vader returned to Jabba's palace the next day and negotiated on the Emperor's behalf. Jabba agreed to provide the Empire with whatever resources it needed to fuel its operations. This alliance with the Empire allowed him and the Hutts to survive the Imperial crackdown against criminal elements in the Outer Rim, as well as rid the Hutts of their competitors.[59]

Sometime before theBattle of Hoth, Jabba'smajordomoBib Fortuna the contactedTatooine rebel cell via hologram after an attack on theirhomestead and informed them that they had angered his master. The Alliance also contacted the mercenaries and asked for their aid inrecovering medical supplies from a Hutt Cartelden on the planetDandoran, also earning them an offer of allegiance from the Rebels. While the mercenaries were off-world aiding the them, Jabba's men destroyed their homestead in vengeance for the outlaws' deaths.[6] The Rebels would at some point later work with Jabba in order to obtain intel on the faction they opposed in the civil war. This temporary partnership quickly broke down and conflict between the Rebels and the Hutts erupted once more.[60]

Jabba had placed abounty on Solo as he had failed to pay him back. After Vader captured Solo onCloud City and froze him incarbonite, Vader turned him over to Fett, who brought Solo to Jabba's palace.[61] The deaths of all Grand Hutt Council members aside from Jabba in thebattle over Jekara left him the sole leader of the Hutt Clan.[62]

Jabba sent Vess and Tormin to discover the identity of a spy in the ranks of the Hutt Clan at his palace.

Jabba sent Vess and Tormin to discover the identity of a spy in the ranks of the Hutt Clan at his palace.

WhenNix, a creature of the raremerqaal species, was stolen and ended up in Jabba's possession, criminalKay Vess broke intoJabba's Palace to recover her companion. Nix showed aggression towards Jabba by attacking him. After a conflict, Jabba decided to send Vess along withVail Tormin, abounty hunter who was after Vess and tried to escape from the Palace with her, to discover the identity of a spy that the crime syndicateZerek Besh placed in Jabba's Palace. In return, Jabba would forgive the two of them for the confusion at the Palace, return Nix, and allow the two of them to leaveTatooine alive. The mission was a success and the spy was discovered. The Hutt Clan had an interest in undermining the power of thePyke Syndicate on themoonToshara. One of the attempts to achieve this objective was the hiring of Vess to acquire compromising information aboutGovernorThorden, someone with great control over the Imperial presence in Toshara. Jabba intended to use the information to force Thorden to favor the Hutts. OnAkiva, the Hutt Clan captured members of theAlliance to Restore the Republic and intended to sell them as prisoners to theGalactic Empire. The rebels were saved by their companions, who were helped by Vess. Vess aided the rebels in exchange for aid to his fellow droidND-5, aBX commando droid that was nearly destroyed due to a malfunction. ND-5 owed a debt to Jabba, a debt that was paid when Vess obtained the information against Governor Thorden. As the Hutt Clan had lost ships headed to Toshara,Bib Fortuna hired Vess to protect ships heading to the same place with a valuable cargo.[13]

Death of Jabba[]

«There will be no bargain, young Jedi. I shall enjoy watching you die.»
―Jabba, to Luke Skywalker[63]
End of Jabba's might

End of Jabba's might

Leia Organa succeeded in unfreezing Solo before her discovery, resulting in her strategic position as Jabba's new "slave girl" which gave her both proximity to Jabba and a weapon to use against him—the chain that bound her to him. Following her capture and Solo's release from the carbonite, Luke Skywalker, who had now become a Jedi Knight just like his father and acommander of the Rebellion, arrived on the scene, seeking torescue his friends from Jabba's imprisonment. Jabba refused to agree to Skywalker's bargain and instead tried to execute him via arancor. Skywalker defeated therancor which lead Jabba to attempt a mass execution of Skywalker,Chewbacca, and Solo at theGreat Pit of Carkoon; only to have Organa strangle Jabba to death using her own chain.[63]

In the immediate aftermath of Jabba's demise, the other Hutts had the wreckage of theKhetanna searched in order to determine the exact nature of Jabba's death and settle a debate over the matter of hiswill. What they discovered was a holorecording of Jabba's last moments at the hands of Organa.[64] Enraged, the Hutt heirs put out a bounty on Organa.[65] The footage of Organa began to circulate among certain exclusive circles, the Hutts hunted down most copies and their vendors, eager to prevent proof of their own vulnerability from circulating.[64]

After Jabba's demise, the Hutts were left to determine who would fill Jabba's seat and take reins of his criminal empire. Several months after Solo's rescue, a decision had yet to be made.[66] Coupled with the Empire'scollapse and demise of Emperor Palpatine, Jabba's death left enormous power vacuums in theKesselspice trade as well, triggering widespread gang warfare and leaving trade routes once guarded by mercenaries hired by the Hutts vulnerable, leading to the formation of theSpice Runners of Kijimi.[67]

Claiming Jabba's territory[]

Jabba's cousins tried to claim Jabba territory from Boba Fett.

Several years after Jabba's death, Fett returned to his palace and killed Fortuna, who had assumed control of Jabba's throne, and took it for himself.[68] Fett became the newDaimyo ofMos Espa, leading abrother andsister known asThe Twins to travel fromNal Hutta toMos Espa and confrontedLord Fett, laying claim to their cousin Jabba's territory.[5]

The Twins soon sent Krrsantan tokill Fett at his palace. After his failure and capture, they arrived to apologize to Fett and offer him arancor as well as Krrsantan as tribute. They also announced the Hutt Clan departure from Tatooine, as they have been informed that Jabba's former holdings have actually been promised to thePyke Syndicate by Mayor Mok Shaiz, and they had no interest in starting a war over a "worthless rock."[69] OneHutt clan active during the late New Republic Era dealt in slaves, with the Hutts purchasing the young NiktoNenavakasa Nalor after she was captured by pirates.[70]

  54. Star Wars (2015) 7 takes place ayear beforeStar Wars (2015) 15, which is set immediately beforeStar Wars (2015) 20. In thesecomics,Owen Lars is visibly older than his appearance inStar Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, whichStar Wars: Timelines dates the events of to9 BBY. Additionally, these comics depictObi-Wan Kenobi inBen Kenobi's home, a home he did not occupy until after the events ofObi-Wan Kenobi, meaning the comics have to take place after the series. However,Star Wars LINE Webtoon: Chapter 2—"Meeting the Droids" depicts Obi-Wan Kenobi visibly older than his appearance in the aforementioned comics;Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition states thatLuke Skywalker was twelve years old in the Webtoon chapter, and since he wasborn in 19BBY according toTimelines, he was twelve in7 BBY and this is the latest the comics can take place. Therefore, due to the year-long gap,Star Wars (2015) 7 is set in either 9BBY or8 BBY, andStar Wars (2015) 15 andStar Wars (2015) 20 both take place in either 8 BBY or 7 BBY.
