TheHosnian system was astar system inthe galaxy'sCore[1] that contained theplanetsCardota,Courtsilius,Hosnian,Hosnian Prime, andRaysho.[5]

Galactic Civil War[]
During theBattle of Endor anImperial armadaattacked the Hosnian System in a surprise attack against the Core Worlds. Thearmada was met by theMC75 Star CruisersTemperance andAccordance. Although theAccordance was lost during the battle, theTemperance took on the survivors and went on to win the battle.[9]
Amonth after theBattle of Jakku, afemale newscaster from the Hosnian system delivered a news broadcast reporting that anImperial surrender was imminent but that theNew Republic Defense Fleet would remain on war footing for the foreseeable future. This signal was intercepted byImperial remnant forces as far away as theQueluhan Nebula.[10]
The New Republic and destruction[]

The Hosnian system was destroyed by Starkiller Base during the Hosnian Cataclysm starting a war between the First Order and the Resistance.
In28 ABY,[11] the system was home to theNew RepublicSenate on Hosnian Prime.[12]
Hosnian Prime and all other planetary objectsorbiting the system'ssun weredestroyed by aphantom energy beam[3] upon the firing of theFirst Order'sStarkiller Basesuperweapon in34 ABY.[4] Due to the nature of phantom energy, the destruction of the system was visible across the galaxy[3] through a rip insub-hyperspace.[3] It was witnessed by those present inMaz Kanata'scastle on the planetTakodana,[4] and those present onVardos.[13] The beam caused Hosnian Prime's core to ignite in apocket nova, and temporarily became a binary system.[3]
