TheHH-87 Starhopper, also known as theHutt fighter due to its service in theHutt Clan,[7] or simply thestarhopper, was a versatile, long range single-person[3]starfighter that had a long service history, being used by the Hutt Clans from at least theHigh Republic Era[7] through theClone Wars.[8] These starhoppers were also in service with theZygerrian Slave Empire, which deployed them for dogfighting at theBattle of Kadavo.[8]

In4 ABY,Wedge Antilles used anHH-87 formerly belonging toGev Hessan to scout severalOuter Rim worlds for signs of hiddenImperial redoubts. When his starhopper was captured by theISDVigilance overAkiva, Antilles rigged it to explode, hoping the chaos would allow him to escape.[3] Sometime prior to theattack on Tuanul,Vi Moradi andherastromech droidU5-GG were captured in a starhopper by theFirst OrderResurgent-class Star DestroyerAbsolution.[9]

Behind the scenes[]

The HH-87 Starhopper was originally created for "Escape from Kadavo," the thirteenth episode of thecanon animated seriesStar Wars: The Clone Wars'fourth season.[8] Its design was based on an original concept illustration for theImperial shuttle developed for the1983 filmStar Wars: Episode VIReturn of the Jedi.[10]
