The Graf Archive covered most of the surface of themoonOrchis 2. Its manydatabanks, galleries, and shelves contained texts, antiques, artworks, and even preservedplants andanimals from all acrossthe galaxy. The items which could not be readily identified were placed in the undergroundShadow Stacks, where they waited to be processed, often for severalyears.[2]
Organization[]
Positions within the Graf Archive includedarchivists, aHead Curator, aDirector,[2] and aDeputy Director.Archive droids were also employed.[4] At some point,Lina Graf was the headcurator of the archive.[3]
History[]
- "Well, it may not have beenour home growing up, but it was home to our family for centuries. I didn't even know it still existed."
- ―Milo Graf, to his sister[5]

Forcenturies, a compound on Orchis 2 served as the home of theGrafs,[5] one of the wealthiest families in theGalactic Republic during theHigh Republic Era,[6] until they somehow lost ownership of it and even came to forget its continued existence.[5]
At some point, theGalactic Empire took over the site. The Imperials used it as a library for several years, until they too ended up leaving. Eventually, descendants of the ancient Grafs, the siblings Lina andMilo Graf, rediscovered the home of their ancestors.[5]
The Graf Archive was founded at some point before thefall of theFirst Order[7] in the year35 ABY.[1] At the time, Lina Graf was in charge of the Archive, and her grand-nephewEmil Graf contributed to the expansion of the library by collecting data during his travels aboard theStar Herald. He notably managed to locate theLost Library ofNelgenam.[7]
Eventually,Amel Fortoon became director of the Graf Archive. It was during Fortoon's tenure that the famoushistorianEloc Throno came to study cartography at the Archive.[8]
At a later point during Fortoon's tenure, atrainee archivist searching the Shadow Stacks exhumed a set ofplanetary maps[2]—released by the archive as theGalactic Atlas[9]—drawn by the famedIthorianartistGammit Chond.[2] DuringXoddam Lothipp's tenure as Deputy Director, a restoration effort was started and a task force led by archivedroidTR-33NA was assembled to scour the library for artifacts of historical importance. One of their first significant discoveries, deep within the stacks, was anold journal filled with sketches and accounts ofalienspecies and cultures from all over the galaxy. Although the author was not easy to identify, the drawing style of the sketches was reminiscent of Gammit Chond.[4]
