Characteristics[]

TheGozanti-class Assault Carrier,[6] also informally known as the Imperial assault carrier, was a sub-variant of theImperialGozanti-class cruiser,[11] itself a modified version of the civilianGozanti-class armed transport. TheGozanti-class AssaultCarrier was upgraded with a reinforcedhull and more powerfulrepulsorliftengines that allowed its four ventralmagnetic docking claws to carry a cargo of fourAll Terrain Defense Pods, twoAll Terrain Armored Transports,[6] or fourAll Terrain Scout Transports,[9] or carry fourTIE fighter series craft, similar to the standard ImperialGozanti-class cruiser.[6]
One model of theGozanti-class Assault Carrier was armed with two twinlaser cannonturrets, both located in the rear dorsal and ventral parts of the ship. It had three engines and a dorsalrectenna.[4] Another model seen used by the Empire[12] and byMoffGideon's Imperial remnant[5] possessed heavierarmor, more weapons, and a cargo bay.
History[]
Early Rebellion[]

TheGozanti-class Assault Carrier was introduced by theGalactic Empire by thetime of theearly rebellion against the Galactic Empire. TheSpectres, a group of insurgents headquartered on theplanetLothalstole illegalT-7 ion disruptor rifles in5 BBY to prevent the Empire from getting control of them. After a skirmish onGarel, the Spectres rendezvoused with the criminal and armssmugglerCikatro Vizago to sell the weapons. Unknown to the group, however,Imperial Security BureauAgentAlexsandr Kallus became aware of the exchange and used aGozanti-class Assault Carrier to deploy four AT-DPwalkers, then deploying from the ship himself with asquad ofstormtroopers. After the carrier deployed the Imperial forces, it proceeded to leave the area. Eventually, Imperial forces were pushed back and defeated.[4]
Galactic Civil War[]
In3 BBY, during the then-unofficialGalactic Civil War, aGozanti-class assault carrier of the more heavily armored variant was present at theEastern Spaceport onCoruscant.[12] Shortly after, another was docked atPort Steergard.[13]
Lothal Skirmish[]
Shortly after theBattle of Garel during 3BBY, asenatorial convoy of theRoyal Alderaan Civil Fleet arrived on Lothal, with threeSphyrna-class Hammerhead corvettes being ordered to land in thecity ofJalath for inspection. There, ImperialLieutenantYogar Lyste arrived with stormtrooper forces withgravity locks to secure the ships, while aGozanti-class Assault Carrier deployed two AT-AT walkers, includingAT-AT 36, to provide perimeter security and prevent rebel forces from stealing the trio ofcorvettes, asAlderaanian ships were infamous for being stolen by rebel forces. Eventually, rebel forces managed to defeat the Imperials, and successfully stole all three ships.[14]
Mission to Agamar[]
A year later in2 BBY, members of the Spectresventured toAgamar in order to retrieve weapons froma downedSeparatistDH-Omni Support Vessel from theClone Wars. However, thegarrison ofbattle droids onboard the ship had survived, as their leader, theST-series super tactical droidGeneralKalani, had disregarded the shutdown command that was issued fromMustafar at the end of the war. After capturing the Spectres and forcing them to battle hisdroids, they eventually won. Soon after the Empire arrived, including twoGozanti-class assault carriers carrying two All Terrain Defense Pods and twoAll Terrain Armored Transport Prototypes respectively. Having been forced to ally with the droids, the Spectres made their escape inoneSheathipede-class transport shuttle, and Kalani and his remaining forces making theirs in another after having taken down one AT-AT/P.[15]
Battle of Hoth[]

One of severalGozanti-class Assault Carriers deployed on Hoth.
In3 ABY,[16] at theBattle of Hoth, ImperialGeneralMaximilian Veers used severalGozanti-class Assault Carriers to deploy thewalkers ofBlizzard Force instead ofY-85 Titan dropships, as he was wary that enemystarfighters would swarm the dropships before they had a chance to reach their landing zone.[17]
The carriers were initially spotted byRebel trooper andTwilight Company memberRoja, who was posted at Echo Base'sPerimeter Outpost Delta. His squadmateBeak identified theGozanti-class Assault Carriers and deduced that they were bringing walkers to deploy on the surface of Hoth.First SergeantHazram Namir ordered Beak to report their presence as a result.[10]
Skirmish on Vardos[]
After thedeath ofEmperorPalpatine at the climacticBattle of Endor[9] in4 ABY[16] and the launch of his final command,Operation: Cinder, Imperial forces led by ISBAdmiralGarrick Versio andMoffDerrek Raythe initiated the operation on the loyal Imperial world ofVardos. The operation called for the destruction of Imperial worlds, in a self-destructive scheme to tear down the remnants of the Empire, as Palpatine believed it did not deserve to outlive him. Early on, as the operation'sclimate disruption arrays began altering the climate and creating catastrophic storms,Gozanti-class Assault Carriers were present in the capital city ofKestro, with one deploying an AT-AT near theArchive. An ensuingskirmish erupted when two members of theImperial Special ForcesInferno Squad defected and hijacked the AT-AT in a bid to help evacuate civilians.[9]
Battle of Theed[]
- "Imperial protocol is to jump away to a safe location. Those ships are headed straight for Theed. They're going to attack the city."
- ―Alliance forces observingGozanti-class Assault Carriers and other ships evacuate theTorment[9]

One of at least twoGozanti-class Assault Carriers during the Battle of Theed.
In accordance with Operation: Cinder,CaptainLerr Duvat from theImperial II-class Star DestroyerTorment deployed the climate disruption arrays above Emperor Palpatine'shomeworld ofNaboo. TheBattle of Theed began when members of theNaboo Royal Space Fighter Corps and the Rebel Alliance engaged theTorment in orbit and destroyed the arrays. After anaval engagement resulted in the destruction of theTorment, several landing forces launched from theStar Destroyer and headed towards the capital cityTheed. The Imperial contingent included at least twoGozanti-class Assault Carriers that deployed AT-ATs in the center of the city. With fierce fighting occuring in the streets and starfighter combat above the city, the AT-ATs advanced towards theTheed Royal Palace in an effort to defeat the Alliance forces. An ion burst from the palace, however, thwarted Imperial efforts as it disabled all of their equipment and forced an Imperial surrender.[9]
New Republic Era[]

Around9 ABY, with the help ofDin Djarin,Bo-Katan Kryze,Axe Woves, andKoska Reeves infiltrated an up-armoredGozanti-class cruiser transporting weapons. Intending to capture a weapons shipment, the warriors secured the cargo before taking the bridge and hijacking the ship. Djarin would depart their company after their successful mission.[5]
The fleet assembled by Kryze, by the time it was taken over by Woves and stationed onPlazir-15, contained multiple up-armoredGozanti-class Assault Carriers. The fleet returned to Kryze's possession when she defeated Woves in single combat,[18] and was mobilized in the successfulmission to reclaim Mandalore.[19]
