Biology and appearance[]

Gigorans, like Senna, were often enslaved for their great strength.
Gigorans were aspecies of furry giants, in many ways similar to theWookiees.[6] They had fur ranging in color from white to grey or light brown.[2] They could learn to understand other languages, but could not themselves speakGalactic Basic Standard. In order to communicate with species that did not speak their language, Gigorans often woretranslating vocoders on their mouths[7] to speak otherlanguages besidesGigoran.[4]
Gigorans in the galaxy[]
Gigorans were often exploited for their strength.[6] Around233 BBY,[8] a Gigoranmusician played inHap's Sap Tap on[9] theplanetTenoo.[10]Baheeoo, a member of theNihilmarauder group, was present aboard theGaze Electric in232 BBY.[11]
Moroff, a Gigoranmercenary, was active during theAge of the Empire.[12] SomeGigorans were members of theRebel Alliance.[13] TheCereanSoo-Tath was protected by two Gigoranbodyguards.[2] Another Gigoran bodyguard,Sluncan, servedJayyar Lu-wehs, a wealthyweapon merchant's son.[3]Ymmoss was a Gigoran who, along withCost Niktur, was captured by theFirst Order in34 ABY.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
The Gigorans originated in the1994Legendsrole-playing game article "It's a Gambler's Life," published in theStar Wars Adventure Journal 4.[14] They werecanonized through their inclusion in a 2016 update toStar Wars: Commander.[1] The first named Gigoran in canon wasMoroff inRogue One: A Star Wars Story.[15]
Unlike their canon counterparts, the Legends Gigorans did not require vocoders to speakGalactic Basic Standard.[14]
