Force Dash

Purpose

Temporarily increase one's speed[1] and reaction time[2]

Force Dash,[3] also known asForce Speed,[6] was anability ofthe Force that allowed its user to increase their speed for a brieftime.[1] The increased speed of theForce-user enabled the individual to perceive and react to the world and the entities around them in slow motion, allowing them to dodge attacks easily and attack more quickly with greater accuracy.[4][7] While powerful in short bursts, overexertion of the ability could quickly drain the Force-user of their energy for a brief period oftime.[2] With sufficient skill in Force Dash, users were able to run on vertical surfaces for brief periods of time, an ability used byJedi such asCal Kestis[4] andJocasta Nu.[8]

While aboard theTrade FederationstarshipSaak'ak,Jedi MasterQui-Gon Jinn and hisPadawanObi-Wan Kenobi used Force Dash to escape fromdroidekas.[1] Kenobi could also use Force Speed to increase his reaction time, an ability he used to quickly assess a situation and briefly escape capture while undergoingbusiness on Cato Neimoidia.[2]Darth Sidious, aDark Lord of the Sith, was also capable of utilizing Force Dash.[3]The Second Sister could move to greater speeds, and she was able to dodge incoming blaster bolts.[4]Luke Skywalker utilized Force Speed during his training onDagobah,[9] and later to slice throughBoba Fett’sblaster carbine withhislightsaber.[10]
