During the finaldecades of theGalactic Republic's existence,^[3] thetechnicians known asrainmen, which includedHuman members,^[4] extensivelymined^[3] many valuable materials on Donovia, in the process servicing signal towers there.^[4] The rainmen wore distinctive rainhoods, which allowed them to effectively carry out^[5] close work^[4] in extremely wet conditions.^[5] By22 BBY,^[6] several Donovian rainmen had traveled offworld.^[7]Two years later, Donovia remained undecided on its affiliation to either of the opposing factions of theClone Wars, theGalactic Republic and theConfederacy of Independent Systems.^[8]

Behind the scenes[]

Donovia was first mentioned in the2002 reference bookStar Wars: Attack of the Clones: The Visual Dictionary byDavid West Reynolds.^[9] The2009 reference bookThe Essential Atlas placed the Donoviasystem, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square O-9.^[2]
