Physical information
- "[…] while I don't need to see an abandoned bunker or a black spot where someone put a Sith Lord to the torch, I would like to see that diamond core they found around the Din Pulsar."
- ―Beryl Suttrige[3]
TheDin Pulsar was located in theDin system, a part of theDin Nebula in theOuter Rim Territories'Moddell sector. It was formed when asupernovadestroyed thestarDin around5000 BBY, and it retained in itsorbit the three cores of the former star'sgas giantplanets.Millennia later, themagnetic pulses emitted by thepulsar hindered travel along the nearbyTrindello-Endor Routehyperlane.
Description[]
The Din Pulsar was a remnant of asupernova thatdestroyed thestarDin around5000 BBY. Situated within theDin system,[3] it lay within theOuter Moddell systems area of[2] theModdell sector,[1] one of thesubsectors making up theInner Zuma Region[2] within theOuter Rim Territories'Zuma sector.[1] The Dinsystem was situated adjacent to thehyperlane known as theTrindello-Endor Route, which connected it to theEndor andTrindello systems.[2]
The whirling and flashingpulsar wasorbited by the three cores—one of them adiamond the size of a terrestrialworld—of Din's former outergas giant–type planets. The Din Pulsar was also surrounded by thenebulosity known as theDin Nebula.[3]
History[]
During thecentury leading up to theYuuzhan Vong War,[3] which began in25 ABY,[2] the combination ofmagnetic pulses emitted by the Din Pulsar and filaments ofgas from the Din Nebula made the Trindello-Endor Route increasingly unstable, extending traveltimes along it and frying thehyperdrives of numerousstarships. At some point following theBattle of Endor[3] of4 ABY,[2]Ur-Dean EmeritusBeryl Suttrige of[3] the planet[4]Charmath'sCollege of Astrocartography expressed their interest in seeing the diamond core orbiting the Din Pulsar.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The Din Pulsar was first mentioned in the article "Endor and the Moddell Sector," which was published in theninth issue of theStar Wars Gamer magazine[3] onFebruary 22,2002.[5] In2008,The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia claimed that the entity known asTilotny existed near the Din Pulsar,[6] but the2009 reference bookThe Essential Atlas overrode that placement by establishing that she resided near theBedlam Pulsar instead. The Essential Atlas also placed the Din Pulsar in grid square H-16.[2]
