Cygnus Spaceworks, also referred to asCygnus Space Workshops, was astarship manufacturing company active during both theRepublic andImperial Eras.[1]

History[]

Before theEmpire came topower, Cygnus Space Workshops was coaxed byRepublic Sienar Systems to develop theAbecederian line.[1] It was one of many companies, includingTheed Engineering andSienar Fleet Systems, who were involved in the construction of the starshipCarrion Spike, personal vessel of ImperialGovernorWilhuff Tarkin. When a rebel cell stole theCarrion Spike, aMon Calamari member of the group namedArtoz recognized Cygnus Space Workshops' part in outfitting the vessel.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

The company Cygnus Spaceworks originated in a1984 fan-made material created by Lawrence Miller namedBook of Imperial Shuttle Plans: Cygnus Spaceworks, which described it as the company that made a series of ships very similar to theLambda-class T-4a shuttle. The book was commonly mistaken for an officialLucasfilm product, and in1994 the licensedsecond volume ofThe Official Star Wars Technical Journal included the company. The2014James Luceno novelTarkin then brought the company from theStar Wars Legends continuity intocanon.

On August 21, 2017Fantasy Flight Games announced theAlpha-class Xg-1 Star Wing as part of its Wave XII for theirStar Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game, naming it as a product of Cygnus Spaceworks.[11]
