Description[]

Chiss scouts on Csilla
Csilla was a terrestrialplanet in theCsilla system[2] of theUnknown Regions ofthe galaxy,[1] occupying the secondorbit from thestarCsilla and located at the junction of thePath of the Houses and theVagaari Corridor.[2] With standardgravity, a frigid climate,[3] and a diameter of 11,080kilometers, Csilla was orbited by threemoons and had terrain featuring glaciers and caves.[2] Due to the mineral content of the hydrosphere, glaciers on Csilla were a striking blue incolor.[6] Aday on Csilla lasted 25standardhours and ayear lasted 462 local days.[3]Chissstarships relied on a series of navigational anchor points that spread out from Csilla.[8]
Csilla was the capital of theChiss Ascendancy[2] and imported resources including foodstuffs, luxury goods,[3] and technology[2] from other Chiss colonies.[6] A network of underground tube transports connected its largestcity,Csaplar, to every other area on the planet,[2] including other cities buried in the ice. Cities on Csilla were kept livable by heat from the interior of the planet.[3] Csilla was also the center of Chiss politics; theirCabinet andParliament could be found at theHouse Palace in Csaplar. TheCsapla family was responsible for the distribution of resources to the populace of Csilla.[6]
History[]
Between27,500 BBY[2] and27,000 BBY,[9]Humans reached Csilla insleeper ships and colonized the planet.[2] Genetic analysis indicated that these Humans developed into the Chiss,[9] who quickly developed a global government. The need to manage Csilla's population and obtain resources without damaging their homeworld's ecosystem motivated the Chiss space program, which may have benefited from memories of the original colonization effort.[6]
The planet entered agreat ice age around5000 BBY.[9]
During theGreat Galactic War, negotiators from theChiss Ascendancy—the Chiss' government—and diplomats of theSith Empire met in a summit, which resulted in the Ascendancy offering resources, tax revenues, and armies to the Empire in return for its sovereignty; as part of the decision, no Imperials would enter Csilla without permission.[10]
It was also home to theExpeditionary Library.[4]Grand AdmiralThrawn was born here.[11]
Inhabitants[]
Csilla was inhabited by eight billionsentients[2] and was thehomeworld of the Chiss,[6] who comprised 99% of the population.[2] The Chiss werenear-Humans whose blue skin color was partly caused by the mineral content of Csilla's hydrosphere.[6]
