- "Corulag, huh? That explains the accent."
- ―Zare Leonis, to Merei Spanjaf[5]
Corulag was aCore Worldsplanet that was influential in theGalactic Republic helping the worldEriadu out of its debts and putting it onto thegalactic-map. Under theGalactic Empire, it was the site of anImperial Academy, theCorulag Military Academy, which caught some success from its strategic pairing of training instructors, likeCommandantsAngor andBedgar.
Corulag was listed at the location of arrest for the criminal "Liana Hallik," who was arrested in theFive Points system in1 BBY. Around thatyear, theRebel AllianceCaptainCassian Andor went to Corulag when investigating the Empire'skyber crystal shipments, leaving for theRing of Kafrene when he was summoned by aninformant of his.
After the Empire'sfall in5 ABY,New Republic veteranChass na Chadic resided in thecity ofCuramelle on Corulag, attending therapy for a while. She moved on the planet toCrullov, but her life as a veteran ended when her building was raided by security forces, Chadic eventually moving on to the astronomical objectSpirana.
Description[]
Corulag was a terrestrialplanet[5] located inthe Interior portion[2] of theCore Worlds. Situated at the coordinates L-9 on theStandard Galactic Grid, it lay along thePerlemian Trade Route[1]super-hyperroute[10] between the[1] planets[11]Chandrila andCoruscant.[1]
History[]
High status[]
- "The Imperial Military Academy on Corulag appears to have produced a number of well-regarded Imperial graduates. Much of this appears to be rooted in their tendency to pair training instructors based on their complementary abilities."
- ―Beaumont Kin,The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire[11]

Corulag was instrumental in the industrial development of Eriadu (pictured).
Corulag was a notable member world in theGalactic Republic in the time after thefall of theSith[12] in1032 BBY,[13] the planet having influence in the Republic'sGalactic Senate. During that time, entrepreneurs from the world saved the settlers of theOuter Rim Territories planetEriadu from their debts to theInterGalactic Banking Clan, which had given loans for the development of Eriadu'slommitemining. Corulag's senatorial influence also led to theHydian Way,[12] asuper-hyperroute[10] that was originally founded in3705 BBY,[14] being routed through Eriaduspace, putting the Outer Rim world on thegalactic-map. The Core World entrepreneurs that helped Eriadu in turn forced the planet to increase its lommite supply and demanded much of the profits. This transformed large sections of Eriadu into polluted industrial zones and poverty stricken cities.[12]
The Republicbecame theGalactic Empire in19 BBY,[13] and Corulag was the site of anImperial Academy, theCorulag Military Academy. While considered less prestigious than academies like theRaithal Academy,[6] Corulag still produced a number of well-regarded Imperial graduates. Such success was in part due to their tactic of pairing training instructors based on abilities they had in common. The match-up ofCommandantsAngor andBedgar, noted respectively for relevant and robust combat strategy classes and the intricacies of military administration, exemplified this.[11]
Seedy activities[]
- "As ordered, I have been investigating reports that the Empire is transporting kyber crystals to Patriim, Horuz, and other remote star systems. Those investigations led me to Corulag and then to Coruscant, where I heard rumors that the Empire was concealing shipments of kyber crystals in convoys of civilian freighters. Further investigation revealed shipments were arriving on Kafrene from the direction of the Unknown Regions before being sent to an unknown destination."
- ―Cassian Andor, in a report to Airen Cracken[15]

Corulag was listed as the location of arrest for Jyn Erso
In1 BBY,[13] the criminalJyn Erso, who used the alias "Liana Hallik," was arrested by ImperialAdmiralBethava Rocwyn in theFive Points system,[16] beingincarcerated in theWobani Labor Colony.[17] Her arrest record, designated file / 7976.994.5., listed the location of her arrest to Corulag,[18] her intake record at the Wobani Labor Camp doing the same. The latter file was eventually included inThe Rebel Files, an archive of non-electronic documents compiled by rebelarchivistHendri Underholt.[17]
Around that sameyear,[19] theRebel Alliance'sintelligence branch probed reports that the Empire was transportingkyber crystals to theHoruz andPatriim systems,GeneralAiren Cracken assigningCaptainCassian Andor to investigate these. Andor's investigations led him to Coruscant[15] and to Corulag.[20] At those worlds, he learned of rumors that the Empire was using convoys of civilian freighters to conceal kyber shipments, some passed through theRing of Kafrenetrading outpost from the direction of theUnknown Regions.[15]
In4 ABY,[13] the aspiringJediLuke Skywalker spoke with theForce ghost ofJedi MasterObi-Wan Kenobi while visiting[21] theswamp planet[22]Dagobah. In that conversation, Kenobi told Skywalker that the fate of Corulag and many other planets relied on a final confrontation between the latter and theSith LordDarth Vader.[21]
Post-Imperial era[]
- "For example, Commandant Angor was noted for his relevant and robust combat strategy classes, and often worked closely with Commandant Bedgar who instructed officer cadets on the intricacies of military administration. Together the pair were able to produce well-rounded officers who could both act in combat and undertake the bureaucracy that was inherent in leadership positions."
- ―Beaumont Kin,The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire[11]

Chass na Chadic resided for some time on Corulag after the Empire's fall
After thefall of the Empire[7] in5 ABY,[13]Chass na Chadic, a veteranpilot of theNew Republic, resided in thecity ofCuramelle on Corulag. There, she went to therapy appointments at amedcenter, favouring abearded snake-woman therapist. However, Chadic gave up on therapy after she missed an appointment and the snake-woman could not reschedule for amonth. Remaining on Corulag, she eventually relocated toCrullov, another location on the world, for a cheaper rent, living in a closet sized apartment in a complex rife withscrappers anddeath stick addicts. Onenight, though, Chadic gotdrunk enjoying the bands at theLittle Orto street fair and returned to security forces raiding her building. This brought her life as a New Republic veteran to an end, and she eventually relocated to the astronomical objectSpirana.[7]
Imperial Archives kept a section on the "Corulag Imperial Military Academy," including the file "Combined Officer's Curriculum 27" that covered the pairing of Commandants Angor and Bedgar. Having read the file, historianBeaumont Kin summarized the Imperial Academy's curricular success in[11] his[23]35 ABY[24]bookThe Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire.[11]
Inhabitants[]
- "When I left Corulag to—seek my fortune, yeah?—my parents disowned me. Haven't been back since."
- ―Agias Rikton, to Soran Keize, on leaving Corulag[25]
Corulag was thehomeworld ofBaronLero Danthe.[8] ThehumanAgias Rikton was also brought up on the world taking more of a liking to hisgrandfather, a Republic veteran, as he struggled to get along with hisparents, who ultimately cut ties with him when he left to join the Empire.[25]Merei Spanjaf playedkicker in thegrav-ball youth bracket on Corulag.[5] By the time she left the planet forLothal, it had been significantly changed by the Galactic Empire.[9]
Behind the scenes[]
Corulag was first mentioned inJohn Jackson Miller's2014 novelA New Dawn.[8] It originated inStar Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned inWest End Games'1992 roleplaying supplementHeir to the Empire Sourcebook.[26]
TheRogue One: A Star Wars Story novelization establishes that Cassian Andor went to Corulag after Coruscant. While on Corulag, Andor received a message fromTivik, his informant in the extremist rebel cell known as thePartisans, which summoned the rebel operative away to meet with the informant on the Ring of Kafrene.[20] However,Star Wars: Rogue One: Rebel Dossier instead stated a different order, that he went to Corulag first and then Coruscant, and didn't contact Tivik until he arrived on Kafrene.[15] TheStar Wars: Andor episode "Jedha, Kyber, Erso" later established that Andor was on Yavin 4 when he received the message from Tivik.[27]
