"Peacetime or no peacetime, the Corellian Sector can be a tricky piece of space."
Han Solo[6]

TheCorellian sector, also known as theCorellia sector, was a group ofstar systems in theCore region. Twenty nine systems made up thesector and the primary worlds of the sector, such asCorellia,Altawar, andDuro, were counted amongst the influentialCore Worlds.

Description[]

"Well, the Corellian Sector is made up of a couple of dozen star systems, but the mostimportant star system in the sector is the Corellian star system. And the most importantplanet in the Corellian starsystem in the CorellianSector is Corellia, and the capital city is Coronet."
―Han Solo[6]

An ancient and advanced group of worlds, the Corellian sector was one of the earliest interstellar communities, developing it into one of the most industrialized sectors along with theKuat sector andHumbarine sector. This industry and interconnectivity spawned many important trade clusters and powerful corporations. The sector was the hub of theCorellian Run and theCorellian Trade Spine. Corellia, the ostensible sector capital, was so predominant within the sector, that the terms "Corellian system" and "Corellian sector" were often used synonymously or erroneously. The other systems in the sector were referred to as theOutlier systems.

History[]

"And then the war itself came. And the whole Corellian Sector might as well have built a wall around itself. The Emperor's Corellian government got scared. Not just scared of the Rebellion, but scared of everyone. They decided the safest thing to do was not to trust anyone at all. They decided they didn't want the traders. In fact, they didn't want any outsiders."

During the later years of theGalactic Republic, of which several planets in the sector were founding members, the Corellian sector was represented in theGalactic Senate byCom Fordox and later byGarm Bel Iblis, who despite his efforts to seal the sector, was unable to shield it from the bloodshed of theClone Wars.

With the foundation of theGalactic Empire, the sector was forced under the hand of Coruscant once again, withFliry Vorru as itsMoff. Its shipyards were commandeered by theImperial Starfleet, its economy interrupted byPalpatine's wide military industrial complex and its young drafted into the military. During this time so many beings fled the sector to becomesmugglers, criminals, orRebels that they almost became synonymous with the sector name. Following theBattle of Endor, a large number of Imperials streamed into the Sector, giving new authority to pro-Imperial factions.

Following theBattle of Endor, the Corellian sector was among the first sectors to throw off the Empire.[5] Thus, the sector seized the chance for independence, and the Corellian sector became intensely introverted and isolationist during the period following theGalactic Civil War.Doman Beruss represented expatriates of the sector on theNew Republic Provisional Council. Once again, efforts to isolate itself failed. The sector was the battle ground first for theinternecine war betweenGrand AdmiralsJosef Grunger andDanetta Pitta that ended in the climacticBattle of Tralus, and then forThrackan Sal-Solo'sattempted secession of the sector from theNew Republic. Eventually, the Corellian sector opened up to the New Republic at theCorellian Trade Summit, but maintained many stringent limitations.

Membership in the New Republic brought a new period of cooperation. TheDuro system, lumped together with the Corellian sector by the Empire, was spun off and named as the seat of the restoredDuro sector. The worlds of the Sector worked together to equip, manage and man theCorellian Defense Force, which included theSpace Defense Service'sCorellian Sector Fleet. They were also served by a sectorwide independent news network, theCorellian Sector Newsfeed. During theYuuzhan Vong War,Chelch Dravvad represented the sector in theNew Republic Senate.

Starting around39 ABY, the sector once more attempted to assert its independence during theSecond Galactic Civil War.
