Clone Intelligence was themilitary intelligence branch of theGrand Army of the Republic. During theClone Wars, cloneespionage units were tasked with trackingGeneralGrievous, aSeparatistcommander and high-value target of theGalactic Republic.
Description[]

Clone Intelligence operated within the Republic Military as a tool for information gathering during the Clone Wars.
Like theGrand Army of the Republic,[3]Clone Intelligence[2] was composed ofsoldierscloned from thegenetictemplate ofJango Fett and trained to serve theGalactic Republic.[3] In contrast to the standardinfantrytrooper of the GrandArmy, Clone Intelligence units were trained to support theRepublic Military throughespionage operations which involved tracking high-valueSeparatist targets such asGeneralGrievous.[2] Additionally, they provided the Grand Army with surveillance reports on experimental weapons developed by theConfederacy military.[1]
History[]
Searching for theMalevolence[]
- "Hasn't Clone Intelligence reported this weapon never leaves any survivors?"
- ―Sheev Palpatine, on reports from Clone Intelligence[1]

According to Clone Intelligence, theMalevolence was a Separatist weapon capable of causing great destruction.
Clone Intelligence personnel served in the Grand Army of the Republic since the earlydays of theClone Wars.[1] In22 BBY,[4] theConfederacy of Independent Systems Navy utilized the newly-constructedSubjugator-class heavy cruiserMalevolence in its campaign against theGalactic Republic Navy. At thetime, the Republic had limited information pertaining to the newwarship, although Clone Intelligence was able to learn that theMalevolence made a priority ofkilling survivors who witnessed itscapabilities.[1]
Search for Grievous[]
- "Clone Intelligence spotted him in the Balmorra system, but that was weeks ago. Since then, he vanished."
- ―Anakin Skywalker, on Grievous[5]

General Grievous was a high-value target hunted by Clone Intelligence.
With thedestruction of theMalevolence, its formercommanding officer, General Grievous, became the target of an organized search conducted by Clone Intelligence. Though they succeeded in tracking thecyborg general as far as theBalmorra system, Grievous ultimately managed to elude the clone operatives before the Republic could act on their information.[5]
Locating Grievous[]
- Tech: "The Clone War may soon be over."
- Grey: "Better tell that to the clankers headed our way."
- Tech: "I am referring to the encrypted comm chatter. Clone intelligence is reporting Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi has found and engaged General Grievous on Utapau."
- Echo: "If he captures or kills Grievous, the Separatist command structure will collapse."
- ―Tech, Grey, and Echo[6]

Clone Intelligence tracked General Grievous to Utapau, precipitating a planetary invasion by the Galactic Republic.
In19 BBY,[7] the Republic intercepted a partial transmission from theUtapau system in theOuter Rim Territories. Using this information, Clone Intelligence traced Grievous' location to theplanetUtapau.Supreme ChancellorSheev Palpatine revealed their findings toJedi GeneralAnakin Skywalker, who informed theHigh Council of theJedi Order as well. Determined to bring an end tothe galaxy-wideClone Wars, theJedi Masters reacted to Clone Intelligence's report with swift and decisive action, dispatchingJedi GeneralObi-Wan Kenobi to destroy Grievous.[2]
Clone Intelligence continued to monitor the situation on Utapau as a battle ensued between Republic clones and Separatist droids.Tech—one of theCT-99 clones who served inClone Force 99—learned of theBattle of Utapau from the report made by Clone Intelligence, which he discovered through the Republic's encrypted communications network. At the time, Tech and hissquad were assisting Jedi GeneralDepa Billaba'sforces during theBattle of Kaller. Despite losinglegions ofbattle droids over the course of the conflict, under Grievous' leadership theSeparatist Droid Army continued to fight in severalstar systems, mounting a "desperate and brutal counterattack," even as Republic forces secured more victories across the galaxy. The battlefront onKaller involved heavy fighting between the Republic and Separatists. Billaba requested the Republic to send reinforcements while her clones struggled to keep the droids from overrunning their position.[6]

Tech, a member of Clone Force 99, discovered Clone Intelligence's report on Utapau while listening to encrypted comm chatter.
Although Billaba'stroops defeated the droids with the assistance of Clone Force 99, they still had to contend with another Separatistbattalion, causing the general to inquire on the status of her reinforcements. She learned fromClone Sergeant "Hunter" that her battalion would not receive supplemental units as they had been redirected to the Republiccapital ofCoruscant, leaving only thesergeant's squad for Billaba to rely on. Tech, having discovered Clone Intelligence's report, realized that the Separatists were on the brink of defeat, making reinforcements unnecessary.Clone CaptainGrey countered the experimental clone's assertion by noting the incoming battalion of battle droids. Tech explained to Billaba'sclone trooper officer that his source was the encrypted comm chatter through which he discovered that Clone Intelligence had been reporting on the battle between Kenobi and Grievous on Utapau.[6]
The newest addition to Clone Force 99,Echo, came to the same conclusion as Tech, both having deduced from Clone Intelligence's report that the capture or death of General Grievous had the potential to end the Clone Wars since theSeparatist command structure and the droid armies relied on the cyborgwarlord's leadership. Although Billaba found the clones' theory intriguing, she remained focused on the task of Kaller for the Republic. As Billaba's forces prepared to launch a counterattack against the Separatists,Captain Grey received aholographic message from Chancellor Palpatine instructing him to executeOrder 66. The captain and the clones under his command complied as a result of theirprogramming, killing the Jedi Master who had served as their general for years, but not before she ordered herPadawan,Caleb Dume to flee.[6]
