As the Rebels manage to escape the wrath of Darth Vader and the Imperials while escaping to Hoth, they discover that theMillennium Falcon didn't make it out of hyperspace. Crippled by a malfunctioning navigation computer, Luke Skywalker and friends land on the nearest planet – a veritable tropical paradise – to make repairs. Luke soon runs into a woman appearing to be Tanith Shire under attack from a carnivorous plant, and uses the Force to get out of a tight jam. But what's Tanith Shire doing alone on this mysterious outlying planet? The young Rebel is about to find out the real story behind "The Paradise Detour."

Luke arrives at the Rebelrendezvous point and receivesword of General Dodonna'ssuicide strike against the Imperialsat Yavin Base. Meanwhile, the MonCalamari plan a diversion to help theRebels escape the Imperial blockade.Admiral Griff wants to take fullresponsibility for stopping the Rebel attack,so holds off on informing Darth Vader. As theRebel fleet begins its escape to Hoth, with Lukescouting ahead, Han pilots the Millennium Falconoff to find an alternate escape course. Lukediscovers an Imperial ambush, and barely escapes afierce dogfight to warn the Rebels of the Imperials'discovery of their escape route. Elsewhere, the Falcon hasdiscovered an "emergency" escape corridor -unfortunately, with an unstable stellar flare-emitting star atthe other end. Luke and R2-D2 jettison from their disabled scoutship and are picked up by the Falcon. The Rebels choose toescape via the stellar flare corridor, and Luke zooms to the front ofthe fleet to use the Force to sense for imminent flares. Unfortunately,his use of the Force also makes his presence known to Vader ... |
