Cei Vookto was aDurosmaleJedi Master who served theJedi Order and theGalactic Republic in theGrand Army of the Republic during theClone Wars. Hetrained twoPadawans, including theHumanDama Montalvo.Three months into the war, Vookto was dispatched to theplanetLianna todefend aSienar Fleet Systemsstarfighter facility from theSeparatists. He wasslain during theensuing battle when he sacrificed himself so that thesoldiers under his command could survive a Separatist attack. After the Republic won the battle, Vookto's body was given afuneral pyre on Lianna, which was attended by Montalvo and severalJedi Masters, includingYoda andMace Windu.

Dama Montalvo, Vookto's second Padawan
Cei Vookto, aDurosmale, waseducated in the ways ofthe Force by theJedi Order, eventually attaining the rank ofJedi Master. True to his heritage as a Duros, Vookto enjoyed traveling, embarking on long missions along theOuter Rim Territories. When he returned from his missions to theJedi Temple on theplanetCoruscant, he told stories of his adventures to anyJedi who would listen. He eventually took an individual as hisPadawan learner.[2]
By theyear22 BBY, after Vookto trained his first Padawan toKnighthood, he selected theHumanDama Montalvo as his next apprentice. When theClone Wars between theGalactic Republic and theConfederacy of Independent Systemserupted in that year, Vookto returned to Coruscant per theJedi High Council's instructions and assumed a command position within theGrand Army of the Republic.[2] Threemonths into the war,[1] Vookto, Montalvo, and theclone troopers under their command were dispatched to the planetLianna[2] in order todefend aSienar Fleet Systemsstarfighter factory—which was essential for the Republic—from an attack by the Separatists.[2]
During theensuing battle, Vookto sacrificed himself[2] by using hisabilities at summoning the elements, which caused a pillar offire and a pillar ofwater to cleanse the planet. Although Vookto perished due to his usage of the Force,[1] hissquadron ofsoldiers survived an attack from the enemy.[3] After the Republic secured a victory against the Separatists, Vookto was given afuneral pyre, which was attended byJedi MastersYoda,Mace Windu,Ki-Adi-Mundi,Tholme, andQuinlan Vos. Also in attendance were Vookto's Padawan Montalvo—who was assigned to Ki-Adi-Mundi's command—and at least two of thetroopers who had been under the Duros Jedi's command.[2]

Cei Vookto was remembered by Master Yoda for having a quiet voice and a dry sense of humor. He also made it a point to tell Yoda and other Jedi tales of his travels. Vookto obeyed theCouncil's decrees without hesitation, and took a commanding role in the Republic's GrandArmy. The Duros was a capable leader, and was willing to risk his life for the clonetroopers under his command.[2]
Powers and abilities[]
Vookto wassensitive to the Force, and was capable enough to ascend to the rank of Jedi Master. He managed to successfully train one Padawan during his career, and tutored Dama Montalvo prior to perishing on Lianna.[2] During the battle at Lianna, Vookto utilized his abilities at summoning the elements to cleanse the planet; however, the exertion from the effort eventually caused him to lose his life.[1]
