A cape was a sleeveless outergarment that was fastened at the neck and fell loosely from the shoulders.[12] During theClone Wars, theplanetAbafar hosted a cape retailer namedLand O' Capes.[13] ThehumanLandonis Balthazar Calrissian believed that a cape was a very stylish choice of clothing, but his allyShriv Suurgav believed it hampered the personal space he offered to others.[11] Calrissian's companionL3-37 also once noted that wearing a cape seemed to enhance what she believed to be Calrissian's delusions of grandeur.[14]

Lando Calrissian, theBaron Administrator ofCloud City, often wore fashionable capes for style,[12] as did theDark Lord of the Sith and formerJedi MasterDooku.[3] ThecyborgGeneralGrievous,leader of thedroid armies of theConfederacy of Independent Systems during theClone Wars, also often wore a cape, within which he keptJedi lightsabers he had stolen.[4] Thesuit of armor of another Dark Lord,Darth Vader, also included a black cape.[8]Swamp troopers andwet-weather gear stormtroopers of the224th Imperial Armored Division on Mimban wore waterproof capes known as "slicks."
DirectorOrson Krennic affected a white cape with hisImperial uniform.[5]DirectorSliro Barsha of theImperial Security Bureau also wore a cape with his uniform, with his cape featuring fur along its top.Imperial officersJayhold Beehaz,[15]Vanis Tigo,[16] andKaido[17] all wore capes. Upon seeing it during theBattle of theRevelator, Barsha's brotherJaylen Vrax, shortly before executing his brother, complimented the cape and questioned if the fur was Barsha's own idea.[18]CaptainPhasma of theFirst Order wore a black and redarmorweave cape over herchromium-coatedarmor.[6] Her colleague, thedark side warriorKylo Ren, began wearing a black cape in the aftermath of theBattle of Starkiller Base.[7]
