The bulk freighterEravana

Bulk freighters[2] also known asheavy freighters,[3] were generally very large, slow, and cumbersomespace-faringfreighters whose role was to move essential supplies throughoutthe galaxy everyday. They were built in orbitalshipyards and rarely entered theatmosphere of aplanetary body. Instead they tended to unload or load their cargo viaspace stations and transfer yards. Most freighters of this type were owned and operated by corporations as they were generally very expensive and difficult to maintain. Exceptions like theEravanaHan Solo andChewbacca'sBaleen-class heavy freighter[2]—and theYadeez—acarrier for the204th Imperial Fighter Wing[4]—did, however, exist.[2]

History[]

TheGalactic Empire often usedClass four container transports.[5] OneCorellian bulk freighter was being scrapped on theplanetFerrix[6] in5 BBY.[7]Yadeez was a bulk freighter that served as acarrier vessel for the204th Imperial Fighter Wing.[4]

Abulk freighter was attacked bySilvo's pirates in the hope of plundering its vault for a large sum ofcredits. Upon fighting past its crew and breaching the vault, however, thepirates discovered a single credit and mutinied against "Silvo" for his failures,[1] resulting inBrutus[8]—Silvo's formerFirst Mate[9]—being installed as leader instead.[8] Oneheavy freighter was used todestroy aResurgent-class Star Destroyer with theHoldo maneuver above theForest Moon ofEndor[3] in35 ABY.[10]
