Purpose

Project the blade of a lightsaber^[2]

Theblade emitter was a lens mounted at the end of the hilt of alightsaber, forming the terminal part of the weapon. It converted the lightsaber's energy beam into a blade of super-heatedplasma that looped back on itself.^[2]
