Beta Group was agroup within thefleet of theRebel Alliance[1] that was led byCommanderLajaie.[2] The group was present at theMako-Ta Space Docks, where it and other sub-groups were to disperse from the rest of thefleet until it was required tofight against theGalactic Empire.[1]
As the groups were ready to launch intohyperspace, a fault occurred resulting in theships being unable to launch. Shortly after the launch failure,Death Squadron under the command ofDarth Vaderarrived.[1] Itsflagship was aMon Calamari Star Cruiser.[2]
