"He may have had some victories, but have you see his casualty numbers? More troopers have been killed under his command than anyone else."
―Rex and Fives discuss General Pong Krell[3]

Around thestart of theClone Wars,Dexter Jettster was aCoruscantdiner owner and friend ofJedi KnightObi-Wan Kenobi. During thistime,he successfully identified aKamino saberdart to Kenobi, characterizing them by the cuts on their side due to his days as aprospector. During the Clone Wars,Pong Krell was aJedi Master known for his reputation as a successfulgeneral and for having the highest casualty rates ofclone troopers under his command.[3] Prior to theBattle of Umbara, heforesaw thedemise of theJedi Order and theRepublic. He immersed himself in thedark side in order to survive and he attempted tosabotage the campaign, sending his clones on strategically inept missions, so he could become theSith apprentice ofSeparatistleaderCountDooku. However, this was revealed by the clonetroopers of the501st Legion after he sent them against their fellow clones, tricked into believing they wereUmbarans disguised as clone troopers. He proceeded to cut down multiple clones with hisdouble-bladed lightsabers but wasstunned by clone trooperTup. He was later executed by another clone,Dogma.[16]

By thetime of theGalactic Empire, a Besalisk subcommunity existed on the planetGorse. This includedDrakka, owner ofDrakka's Diner,Lal Grallik, enterprising chief ofMoonglow Polychemical, amining and refinery company, and herhusbandGord Grallik, the security chief. Both Gralliks weremurdered byDenetrius Vidian of the Empire.[4]

At the same time, several Besalisks worked for Vidian atCalcoraan Depot on the planetCalcoraan.[4]

Later during the Empire's reign,Galus Vez was astarship parts dealer who owned thespace stationOsisis Station. He worked with theSpectres fromLothal until he no longer wanted to be associated with them when Imperial inspections of his station increased. When they visited again, Vez refused to sell them the parts they needed and chose to challenge the groupspilot,Hera Syndulla, to a race. Should Syndulla win the race, Vez promised to hand over the parts, but should he win, then Vez would take therebels' ship. Syndulla raced him in the race and won, but Vez attempted to capture the rebels anyway. However, the Spectres anticipated this, and the group destroyed one of Vez'scargo vessels and used it as a distraction to disarm him and take out his men. They then forced Vez to hand over what they needed.[10]

Shortly after theBattle of Yavin, the club's owner,Mul Sanaka, tried to set a trap for theAlderaanianPrincessLeia Organa within his club. Snes was given the job of disarming the princess and her companions before leading them inside. Behind the scenes[]

Besalisks first appeared in the2002 filmStar Wars: Episode IIAttack of the Clones through Dexter Jettster. They were never identified on-screen but were named in theStar Wars Legends bookStar Wars: Attack of the Clones: The Visual Dictionary, also from 2002, byDavid West Reynolds (author). ForAttack of the Clones, actorRonald Falk was filmed for Dexter Jettster's scenes, digitally removed, and Jettster was replaced, made entirely withcomputer-generated imagery.[15]

Sometime during the production ofAttack of the Clones, theLucasfilm art department had created multiple alien models in the hope one would go on to become Jettster. Inspected by directorGeorge Lucas, he narrowed it down to two possible models. Asked for his opinion, Visual effects supervisorJohn Knoll preferred a different model, that looked similar to Besalisks, stating animation possibilities for its wattle. Lucas then suggested combining the top of one of the models he chose with the rest of the head of Knoll's preferred model. This became the Besalisk species. Many of the unused models became other species, such asSkakoans.[15]

Concept art forStar Wars: The Clone Wars exists depicting Besalisk Jedi MasterPlun Kil. The artwork was created by lead character designerKilian Plunkett and was intended for thesecond season of the show, though it ultimately did not appear.[18]
