- ―Imperial Officer[1]
TheBattle of Ottega was a battle fought during theGalactic Civil War in theOttega system. This battle was expected as the simple elimination of all traitorousAdmiralHarkov's remaining forces but turned as the beginning of theGrand AdmiralZaarinInsurrection.
Prelude[]
- "Darth Vader: I am close to capturing Admiral Harkov's fleet."
"Excellent Lord Vader, Harkov's fleet must not fall in Rebel hands." - ―Darth Vader andEmperorPalpatine[1]

Following the execution ofAdmiralHarkov, theGalactic Empire decided to eliminate Harkov's remaining forces. The remnants ofhis fleet, more specifically theVictory-class Star DestroyerProtector had successfully been located in theOttega system. The warship had stopped in the where Rebel forces had leftcargo containers with which to supply the remaining traitorous forces.Darth Vader dispatched a fleet led by theImperial-class Star DestroyerGarrett and including theInterdictor cruiserHarpax in the system.
The battle[]
Trap the Protector[]
- "The defectors are being supplied by the Rebels. You flight group will disrupt this effort."
- ―Imperial Officer, toMaarek Stele[1]
TheHarpax entered the system near theProtector, activating itsgravity well projectors in order to keep Harkov's fleeing associates from escaping. Twoflight groups ofTIE Avengerstarfighters deployed with theHarpax, ordered to destroy the cargo containers to halt the traitor's re-supply efforts and protect the vulnerableHarpax from counterattack until additional Imperial forces could arrive.

Emerging fromhyperspace, the TIE AvengersAlpha encounteredTIE/IN interceptorsH-Delta barreling down on them, warhead launchers armed. Splitting their flight group, AvengersAlpha proceeded to destroy the Rebels' containers as theirwingmen handled the harassingTIE/LN starfighters, TIE/IN interceptors,TIE/sa bombers, and Avengers. Imperial starfighters quickly succeeded in destroying the supply cache, moving on to fend off enemy fighters. AvengersAlpha rallied back towards theHarpax, awaiting additional Imperial forces to arrive. Remaining traitorous TIEs continued to pursue, joined by theMon CalamariMC40a light cruiserWarhawk.Z-95 Headhunters andT-65 X-wing starfighters soon joined the battle, originating from theWarhawk, and began attacking theHarpax. Moments later theNebulon-B frigateAkaga also emerged from hyperspace, launching more Z-95s. Imperial TIE Avengers acted swiftly to eliminate the impending threat on InterdictorHarpax as Z-95 Headhunters from theAkaga began firingproton rockets andbombs. Avengers managed to intercept incoming warheads withlaser cannonfire between eliminating the rest of the starfighter threats. TheAssault TransportsLambda arrived on the scene, followed by AvengersAlpha andBeta, who returned to their hangars for the next assault.
Destroy the Akaga[]
- "Imperial Star DestroyerGarrett to all loyal Imperial forces... This is Lord Vader, the time for victory is now."
- ―Darth Vader[1]

With the arrival of the frigateAkaga, Imperial pilots from TIE AvengerAlpha returned to the field to defend the Interdictor. Expecting the arrival of Darth Vader aboard theImperial-class Star DestroyerGarrett, TIE AvengersAlpha entered the system armed with space bombs to destroy theAkaga.Alpha delivered the first devastating blow toAkaga, lowering the warship's shields with a single volley of space bombs. Prepped for reload operations, theDelta-class DX-9 stormtrooper transportGoya arrived as Avenger's warhead magazines ran dry. AvengersBeta andGamma covered attack operations on theAkaga by intercepting incoming enemy TIEs and Z-95 Headhunters. Members ofAlpha flight conducted docking operations until theAkaga collapsed under their massive wave of missiles. With the frigate out of the way, Imperial Avengers continued their mop up operations as theGarrett arrived. The pace of the operation hastened with Darth Vader on-station; Imperial pilots reported to theGarrett to prep for the next phase of the attack.
Retribution[]
- "Lord Vader's plan calls for Admiral Zaarin to bring his forces in for final destruction of the enemy !"
- ―Imperial Officer[1]
Maarek Stele and his wingmen were sent out again, once more inTIE Avengers, this time to remove theProtector and theWarhawk before they could destroy theHarpax and escape. Neither ship had any remaining fighters, leaving a fairly simple task for Stele's flight group.
Targeting theWarhawk first, the cruiser was soon destroyed, and the Imperials turned their attention to theProtector. At this point, someAlpha-class Xg-1 Star Wings arrived. This was the first part of a force sent byGrand AdmiralDemetrius Zaarin, supposedly to help the Imperials in the area. However, the Gunboats targeted the TIE Avengers of Stele and his colleagues.

As the TIE Advanced bore down on theProtector, Zaarin'sAssassin-class corvettes arrived, followed by someGamma-class ATR-6 assault transports. However, instead of turning to attack theProtector, they began to fire on theGarrett and the other loyal Imperial craft. TheImmobilizer 418 cruiser,Harpax, which had been fleeing from the battle, was caught by part of the traitor's forces. Having been damaged in the previous engagements, the interdictor was destroyed, allowing theProtector, under a barrage of torpedo fire, to power up its hyperdrive. Its escape attempt was in vain, however, as Stele finished the defecting Star Destroyer personally. Having done so, a small Rebel force, consisting of twoCR90 corvettes, twoDelta-class JV-7 escort shuttles and someB-wing starfighters arrived, but this was ignored as Zaarin's forces posed a greater danger to theGarrett. Stele led an attack on Zaarin's forces, destroying their entire strength while taking minimal casualties. With the traitors destroyed, Stele finished off the Rebel force, before landing on theGarrett.
Aftermath[]
- "It's now clear that Admiral Zaarin has been plotting a coup d'etat against the Emperor."
- ―Imperial Officer[1]
Having discovered Zaarin's treachery,Darth Vader decided to rush toCoruscant to prevent Zaarin's attempted coup. But theGarrett was too damaged to travel to the Imperial Center. Vader chose five elite pilots, includingMaarek Stele, to assist him in flying sixTIE/D Defenders to Coruscant.
