Battle of Naator
Outcome
Alliance to Restore the Republic[1] Galactic Empire[1] 61st Mobile Infantry[1]
- "To that end, we must take an indirect path to Kuat and strike these designated targets. No sieges, no prolonged attacks—these are surgical strikes against logistical hubs. We destroy these, and the Empiremust react by reassigning ships and officers—either to repair damage or to compensate by bolstering efficiency elsewhere."
- ―Everi Chalis, on attacking Naator and other targets of Operation Ringbreaker[1]
During theGalactic Civil War, theAlliance to Restore the Republic's61st Mobile Infantry fought abattle against the Empire in themountains of theMid RimplanetNaator in3 ABY. The battle was part of the 61st's campaignOperation Ringbreaker, which targeted a number of weaker Imperial targets in hopes of forcingmilitary redeployments from the Empire'sKuat Drive Yards to leave its defenses weakens for an attack. The 61st won the battle, sustaining some casualties between that conflict and the followingbattle at the celestial bodyXagobah, but the rebel unit ultimately did not complete Operation Ringbreaker.
Prelude[]

The 61st Mobile Infantry (patch pictured) targeted Naator as part of Operation Ringbreaker.
In3 ABY,[3] during theGalactic Civil War between theAlliance to Restore the Republic and theGalactic Empire, the Alliance's61st Mobile Infantry led a campaign namedOperation Ringbreaker. Devised by the ex-ImperialGovernorEveri Chalis, the campaign's end target was the Empire'sKuat Drive Yards, the Empire's primary manufacturer and servicer of itsStar Destroyers located at theplanetKuat. In order to weaken theshipyards' defenses, the 61st targeted a number of weaker Imperial installations to draw outmilitary redeployments from Kuat.[1] TheMid Rim Territories planet[4]Naator was among the targets of the campaign, the world being a contributor to the Empire's war effort. The planet was listed in a report on the Operation Ringbreaker's first phase byGeneralCrix Madine when theRebel Alliance Intelligence Service vetted the campaign.[2]
The battle[]
The 61st moved on to Naator after itsattack on theagriworldNakadia. The rebel unit fought and won against the Empire in the planet's[1]icy[5]mountains. Casualties were sustained between that battle and[1] the campaign's nextengagement, which took place at the[2] astronomical object[6]Xagobah.[2]
Aftermath[]
While the campaign proved successful in forcing redistribution of forces from the Kuat Drive Yards, the 61st ultimately did not make it to Kuat, having given up Operation Ringbreaker after being ambushed by the Empire at the planetSullust.[1] The Alliance Intelligence reports on the campaign, including the one listing Naator, were eventuallyarchived in a compilation of non-electric documents calledThe Rebel Files byarchivistHendri Underholt.[2]
