First deployed during the Naboo Crisis by the Trade Federation, the battle droids would eventually become one of the Separatists' main military units during the Clone Wars; some opponents of the Republic for whom the technological limitations of the droids were more than compensated by the huge number of units that were manufactured of all their models. The different variants of battle droids were overcoming these limitations and some, such as droidekas or super battle droids, were much more fearsome opponents. Baktoid Workshops, the original manufacturer of the first battle droids, produced over the years many other models of war droids, even going to work for the Galactic Empire itself.^[1]
