Amale individual was thefather of thehumanscientistAvon Starros. Prior to Avon being sent to the outpostPort Haileap on theplanetHaileap by hermother—theGalactic RepublicsenatorGhirra Starros[1]—by232 BBY,[2] Avon's father left thefamily to chase adream ofmappinghyperspace routes and to live on the edges ofWild Space. Afterward, Ghirra did not say anything except to tell her daughter that her father would not be joining them for dinner ever again.[1]

Thatyear,[2] while on themoonWevo, Avon was asked by theDalnanHonesty Weft why she had been sent to Port Haileap. The question prompted Avon to mentally recall that she been told by anemotional-support droid to talk about her experience of beingkidnapped—the reason why she had been sent to Haileap—though also noted it conflicted with the way her family lived their lives, thinking back to when her father left and her mother's reaction.[1]
