An asteroid field
Anasteroid field was composed ofasteroid clusters of varying sizes that was found throughoutthe galaxy. Because of their unpredictability, asteroid fields were almost impossible to navigate through safely,[2] and mostpilots did not dare flying through them.[3] Certain living creatures, such as theexogorth ofcantina legends[4] and the dangerousfyrnock were known to inhabit asteroid fields such asFort Anaxes.[5] The exogorth lived within asteroid caves, and subsided on minerals, mynocks, and passingstarships.[6]
In the lead-up to theoutbreak of theClone Wars,Jedi KnightObi-Wan Kenobi employed a tactic of hidinghis smallDelta-7Aethersprite-class light interceptor behind an asteroid within an asteroid field to evade detection and pursuit of thebounty hunterJango Fett, who was pilotingSlave I with the witness of hisson,Boba Fett.[7] The latter later anticipated a similar maneuver by thesmuggler pilotHan Solo, who hid hiscraft from theGalactic Empire'sDeath Squadron by attaching it to the back of anImperial Star Destroyer.[8] When theStar Destroyer ejected its waste just before enteringhyperspace per standard procedure, Solo had hisfreighter fly amongst the resulting debris field, escaping undetected save from Boba Fett, who had become an experiencedbounty hunter himself.[1]
