Forward view of an AT-M6
The AT-M6 was a heavilyarmoredwalker utilized by theFirst Order military during theirwar against theResistance. Its design was half siege walker and half psychological weapon, with its massive height, imposing arms, and terrifying noises capable of breaking whole armies before its weapons came into range. The AT-M6 was essentially a siege platform, with the walker's entire frame based around accommodating theMegaCaliber Six turbolaser cannon, a heavyturbolaser which could punch throughshields rated to withstandplanetary bombardment to end sieges with one swift strike.First Order researchers managed to install the giant cannon by reinforcing the front legs, giving the walker stability and the look of a giant simian predator. To power its main weapon the walker carried a dedicatedpower generator as well as a number of auxiliaryfuel cells that were mounted on the walker's back behind the cannon compartment to reduce the recharge time between shots.[2]
The AT-M6 was covered in state of the artUltra-dense matrixed composite armor and powered by afusion reactor. Alongside the MegaCaliber cannon, it was also equipped with two forward-mounted fire-linkedheavy laser cannons, two cheek-mountedanti-ship mediumlaser cannons,[1] and two sets of serrated cable cutters in the front legs to deter attempts at toppling the top-heavy walker. The walker also carried atargeting computer which analyzed the input from two sets of cockpit-mountedtargeting sensor banks to deliver precise shots.[2]
History[]
In34 ABY,[7] they were deployed to theplanetVardos toput down theirformer allies afterGleb's death.[8]
Shortly after the battle on Vardos,[7] and shortly after thedeath ofSupreme LeaderSnoke and the ascension ofKylo Ren as leader of theFirst Order, a number of thesewalkers led thecharge[9] in aVeers Formation[5] against theResistancebase on theplanetCrait, along with a pair ofFirst Order All Terrain Armored Transports andRen'sUpsilon-class command shuttle, with numerousTIE/fo space superiority fighters andTIE/sf space superiority fighters providing air support.[9]
After the majority of Resistancespeeders andground troops were destroyed and the remainder forced to withdraw to the heavilyarmored confines of the base proper, the AT-M6s participated in the bombardment of theForce projection ofJedi MasterLuke Skywalker, who had come to confront Ren, his fallenapprentice. However, thelaser cannons of the walkers had no effect on the illusion.[9]
