Oplock was anEsral'sa'Niktomalemechanic who worked as part of theracerMarcus Speedstar'steam alongside theastromech droidR4-D12. Around20 ABY, when Speedstar's racing tactics resulted in thedeaths of his brotherJarek Yeager'sfamily in aracing accident, Oplock decided to forgive his employer for the incident and continue working with him. For the next severalyears, theEsral'sa'Nikto remained loyal to his employer and forged a deep friendship with him. At some point, Speedstar incurred heavy debts to theGuavian Death Gang, resulting in him fleeing an encounter with the group'ssoldiers with Oplock on theplanetRishi.
In34 ABY, Oplock accompanied Speedstar to thesupertanker fuel depotColossus on the planetCastilon to participate in thePlatform Classic race. While aboard, he visitedJarek Yeager's Repair Station with thepilot and greeted Yeager's employees,Neeku Vozo,Tamara Ryvora, andKazuda Xiono. Afterward, the pair enjoyed beverages in theColossus'sAunt Z's Tavern in a booth. However, apairof Guaviansoldiers entered thecantina and took Oplock hostage until Speedstar repaid his debts to them. Shortly afterward, after eventually convincing Yeager to let him pull ahead in the race, Speedstar won the Platform Classic and used its prizemoney to free Oplock.(Read more…)
