March 4, starwars.fandom.com—Twenty years ago,Star Wars fans were eagerly awaiting theREVENGE OF THE SITH, exploring the depths ofNar Shaddaa in theKNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II, and beginning to buildWOOKIEEPEDIA—theStar Wars wiki. As an ever-growing community of volunteers, the Wookieepedia project now celebrates its 20th year.
Our encyclopedia officially reached200,000 articles in February, 2025. This was only possible with the work of hundreds upon hundreds of fans over the past twenty years. Most Wookieepedians started off editing with little to no writing or coding experience, but our efforts have brought us closer to the goal of creating the most accurate, comprehensive, and well-presented resource about all thingsStar Wars.
Since Wookieepedia'stenth anniversary in 2015, we have expanded thebreadth, depth, and quality of our documentation of both theStar Wars Legends and the newcanon continuities, as well as coverage ofStar Wars media and production behind the scenes. Wookieepedia has also been buildinga more friendly and welcoming community. Informed by our contributors' experiences, we have launched ongoing efforts in revamping ourpolicies to be clearer and more fair, improving accessibility, and developing newediting tutorials.
Since 2015, editor recruitment has advanced on Wookieepedia, with the great majority of the currentadministrators andreview board members having joined those groups in recent years. The past ten years has also seen the progress of theDiscussions forum and the launch of twenty-two new collaborativeWookieeProjects. These include theProject Stardust initiative focusing on essential topics andProject Pride's efforts to improve the wiki's coverage of LGBTQIA+ topics. Most external links on Wookieepedia now havebackup archival links to keep a better record of the ever-changing Internet, andbot systems have automated many monotonous site maintenance tasks such as page archivals for thestatus article peer review system.
Our work continues unabated. Thousands more pagesneed to be created, lack citations, await expansion, and could usemore images. All the while, the franchise continues to grow andrequire updates. As we enter our third decade, we would love for more readers tojoin our ranks! May the Force be with us in the next twenty years… ✨

Amission to the Maw was undertaken by a joint alliance ofJedi andSith in44 ABY. The Jedi hoped to stop thedark side beingAbeloth from continuing to cause amysterious psychosis among several of theJedi Order'sJedi Knights, while theSith, who pretended to have the goal of protecting theirapprentices from the psychosis, secretlyplanned to force Abeloth to join them and thenkill the Jedi. Shortly after the alliance was formed, JediGrand MasterLuke Skywalker suggested that the allied forces wait for the help of his friend,Lando Calrissian, who owned anasteroid tug which they could use for navigation inthe Maw. The Sith agreed, and thefleet decided to wait atKlatooine, where the Sith's leader,High LordSarasu Taalon, discovered the sacredFountain of Ancients and became obsessed with it. During the stopover, theForce-sensitiveDyon Stadd, who had accompanied the Jedi, succumbed to the psychosis. Luke's son,Ben, along with the SithVestara Khai, managed to help capture Stadd, who was sedated and placed aboard theSkywalkers' ship.
The allies left Klatooine to await Calrissian just outside the Maw, and Taalon left twofrigates behind to wait for Calrissian in case something went wrong, although their actual intent was to takewintrium samples from the Fountain. Theirraid went poorly, however, andone frigate was captured. Its crew was put on trial by the recently arrived Calrissian and Jedi KnightJaina Solo and condemned to death. Calrissian, Solo, and theother frigate then met up with the rest of the fleet and entered the Maw. After they discovered that thespace stationSinkhole Station had been destroyed, the allies traveled toAbeloth's planet, where Taalon, Luke,Sith SaberGavar Khai, andCaptainLeeha Faal walkedbeyond shadows. They failed to locate Abeloth, but Vestara placed ahoming beacon on Stadd—who, being under Abeloth's influence, knew where to find her—and set him free, allowing the allies to track him to Abeloth. She attempted in vain to convince Luke that she was his former lover,Callista, and the strike team attacked her.
Inorbit, Solo found theMeditation SphereShip—who was also under Abeloth's control—andattacked the Sphere in herStealthX. Shortly into the battle the Sith betrayed the Jedi—Gavar attacked Luke, and the rest of the Sith created acontrol web to capture Abeloth. Ben intervened anddueled Gavar, which allowed Luke to fight Abeloth while the other Sith tried to capture her. Abeloth suddenly scattered them with aForce blast and fled; the Jedi and Sith recovered quickly and ran after her. Luke found her first and, despite another attempt of hers to trick him, stabbed her in the chest, which apparently resulted in her death. Ship suddenly fled theplanet, and the psychosis that had affected Jedi throughoutthe galaxy was terminated. The Jedi and Sith then agreed to repair their alliance, ordering Calrissian, Solo, and the entireSith armada to leave while Taalon, the Skywalkers, and the Khais remained to investigate further into Abeloth. They soon discovered that Abeloth had actually switched bodies with Stadd, and was still alive. Although their alliance was dissolved, the Sith and Jedi chased Abeloth to themoonPydyr, and againconfronted her.(Read more…)Below are some of the current community projects happening around Wookieepedia.
