March 4, starwars.fandom.com—Twenty years ago today,Star Wars fans were eagerly awaiting theREVENGE OF THE SITH, exploring the depths ofNar Shaddaa in theKNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II, and beginning to buildWOOKIEEPEDIA—theStar Wars wiki. As an ever-growing community of volunteers, the Wookieepedia project now celebrates its 20th year.
Our encyclopedia officially reached200,000 articles last month. This was only possible with the work of hundreds upon hundreds of fans over the past twenty years. Most Wookieepedians started off editing with little to no writing or coding experience, but our efforts have brought us closer to the goal of creating the most accurate, comprehensive, and well-presented resource about all thingsStar Wars.
Since Wookieepedia'stenth anniversary in 2015, we have expanded thebreadth, depth, and quality of our documentation of both theStar Wars Legends and the newcanon continuities, as well as coverage ofStar Wars media and production behind the scenes. Wookieepedia has also been buildinga more friendly and welcoming community. Informed by our contributors' experiences, we have launched ongoing efforts in revamping ourpolicies to be clearer and more fair, improving accessibility, and developing newediting tutorials.
Since 2015, editor recruitment has advanced on Wookieepedia, with the great majority of the currentadministrators andreview board members having joined those groups in recent years. The past ten years has also seen the progress of theDiscussions forum and the launch of twenty-two new collaborativeWookieeProjects. These include theProject Stardust initiative focusing on essential topics andProject Pride's efforts to improve the wiki's coverage of LGBTQIA+ topics. Most external links on Wookieepedia now havebackup archival links to keep a better record of the ever-changing Internet, andbot systems have automated many monotonous site maintenance tasks such as page archivals for thestatus article peer review system.
Our work continues unabated. Thousands more pagesneed to be created, lack citations, await expansion, and could usemore images. All the while, the franchise continues to grow andrequire updates. As we enter our third decade, we would love for more readers tojoin our ranks! May the Force be with us in the next twenty years… ✨

The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi
The final confrontation between the Jedi and the Nihil…

Tarsus Valorum was aHumanmalepolitician anddiplomat, a consequentialSupreme Chancellor of theGalactic Republic, and a champion ofdemocracy who implemented theRuusan Reformations to restore peace and stability in the aftermath of theNew Sith Wars.Born around1050 BBY onCoruscant into the influentialHouse Valorum, he rose to political prominence during the final days of the New Sith Wars between theJediArmy of Light and theSithBrotherhood of Darkness. Elected as the first non-Jedi Supreme Chancellor in over four centuries, Valorum took office amid widespread war fatigue. The reforms he championed were a sweeping overhaul of the Republic designed to decentralize authority, limit Jedi militarization, and restore effective representative to theGalactic Senate. A staunch believer in democracy, Valorum warned that unchecked systems could stagnate without bold reforms, and he challenged entrenched power in pursuit of a stronger, more inclusive government.
Under Valorum's leadership, the Senate was restructured from millions ofsectors to just over one thousand, with representation extended to cultural groups andfunctional constituencies like corporations. TheJedi Order was placed underjudicial oversight, ending its direct military role in galactic affairs for the nextmillennium. Though credited with reunitingthe galaxy after a thousandyears of war, Valorum's reforms later enabled unchecked bureaucratic gridlock and corporate influence, foreshadowing the future instability that would ultimately be exploited toend the Republic. Still, his efforts healed many of the declining aspects of the Old Republic and ushered in a thousand years ofrelative peace. Valorum himself was elected to two terms as Supreme Chancellor.
Valorum remained an active diplomat after leaving office, personally leading missions to reintegrate worlds that had seceded from the Republic. He became the target of akidnapping attempt instigated by theOrder of the Sith Lords, operating in secret after the Republic and Jedi believed the Sith had been destroyed, but their efforts were thwarted. One of Valorum's lasting legacies, at the request of his friend andJedi KnightJohun Othone, was securing Senate approval to construct theValley of the Jedi on theplanetRuusan to memorialize the Jedi who sacrificed themselves to end the New Sith Wars during theSeventh Battle of Ruusan. Remembered as a modest yet formidable reformer, Valorum believed that leadership meant earning trust directly—not through spectacle, but through conviction and action.(Read more…)Below are some of the current community projects happening around Wookieepedia.
