Kirby is a character fromHAL Laboratory andNintendo'sKirby series created byMasahiro Sakurai whom has been compared toStarfy on many occasions because of many similarities in art, action, gameplay, and level scenery. However, Kirby has never appeared with Starfy in any games exceptSuper Smash Bros. Brawl,Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Trivia
- The English versions ofThe Legendary Starfy andKirby Returns to Dreamland are believed to use the same font as a basis.
- WhenHitoshi Yamagami was asked byNintendo Power how "Starfy and Kirby would get along if they met one another?", Hitoshi replied "since Starfy and Kirby are both very friendly" "don't you think they would become friends right away?". He notes that Kirby is "very active in the sky", in the same way Starfy is "very active in the sea".[1]
- TheKirby series features another star-shaped character whose appearance has similarities to Starfy, but is not related to him, known asMr. Star.
- Kirby is shown with Starfy, Baby Mario & Yoshi, in apromotional poster.
- He appeared (with hisKirby's Dream Land sprites) with what may have been an early version of Starfy in theSuper Game Boy Sample Program, however Kirby is partially unused and Game Genie is required to fully restore him; replacing Goon.
