Tidal Rush is asong performed byDJ Octavio feat.Callie vs.Marie.
Description
Tidal Rush is an orchestral drum and bass mashup of bothSquid Sisters solo songs, addingTide Goes Out toDJ Octavio'sremix ofBomb Rush Blush. The production is the same as theBomb Rush Blush remix, keeping the same tempo and drum break to ensure a seamless transition between tracks in-game.Tidal Rush is emotional and triumphant, however, reclaiming the harmonic consonance of its source material and contrasting with the dark dissonance of the previous track.
The remix begins withMarie singing the chorus ofTide Goes Out over a quiet string intro in the key of the original (A minor/C major), before the song crescendos into a loud staccato chord and a modulation into D major (matchingBomb Rush Blush). Marie continues to sing the chorus ofTide Goes Out over a countermelody that consists of the chorus ofBomb Rush Blush played on piccolos. Afterward, both cousins sing the chorus of their respective songs simultaneously. A brass fanfare segues into an instrumental break, after which the two alternate lines from the verses of their respective songs before both of them again sing simultaneously, with the countermelody samplingStory Mode: Onward!. Finally, Callie sings the end ofBomb Rush Blush's verse on her own, and Marie repeats the chorus ofTide Goes Out in a considerably more desperate-sounding tone before the track loops.
The song plays during Phase 3 of thefinal boss ofSplatoon 2 and starts during the cutscene where Marie arrives to shoot Callie's Hypnoshades off. It plays throughout that portion of the fight, with the intro ending when the player regains control and stops playing during the cutscene at the beginning of Phase 4. It can also be heard inSquid Beatz 2 after hearing it in the final boss battle, with a maximum score of 235 and 402 in Normal and Hard modes, respectively. InSplatoon 3, the song can be heard in thejukebox as of Version7.0.0 if theSplatoon 3: Expansion Pass has been downloaded.

A new remix ofTidal Rush calledBlushing Tide was added toSplatoon 3 starting on day two of theGrand FestivalSplatfest event. It is credited to the Squid Sisters instead of DJ Octavio feat. Callie vs. Marie. Compared to the original, it features a different combination of vocals and is generally more upbeat instead of having an emotional & orchestral feel. The song's Japanese title suggests it is produced byYou★Me, the producer who also worked onTomorrow's Nostalgia Today.
Trivia
- UnlikeBomb Rush Blush (DJ Octavio feat. Callie), this track uses new recordings of both singers instead of reused vocal stems from the original tracks.
- The listed performers of "DJ Octavio feat.Callie vs.Marie" is a reference to theSplatfestof the same name, which also pitted the two cousins against each other.
- Tidal Rush and DJ Octavio's remix ofBomb Rush Blush are the only songs by theSquid Sisters fromSplatoon 2 that were never performed live.
- Squid Beatz 2 counts one loop ofTidal Rush as lasting roughly 1:49, ending when the song returns to the chorus ofTide Goes Out. While the string and drum sections for this sequence remain the same, this second chorus uses unique vocals from Marie and slightly different mixing on the woodwinds, so a full loop of the song is closer to 2:11. This is reflected by itsSplatune 2 runtime.
