TheSplatoon 3: Expansion Pass is paid downloadable content forSplatoon 3. It is a bundle consisting of two waves:Wave 1 - Inkopolis andWave 2 -Side Order. "Battle-boosting bonuses" are also given to the player upon purchasing the DLC. It was revealed during the8 February 2023Nintendo Direct.
Inkopolis was released on28 February 2023 at01:00 UTC along with theversion 3.0.0 update, andSide Order was released on22 February 2024 along with theversion 7.0.0 update.
Battle-boosting bonuses

Included in the bundle are bonuses consisting of
123,000, three tickets forPescatariat Royales, one ticket for each of the fourteen availabledrinks, tenSheldon Licenses, andbanners of theSquid Sisters andOff the Hook.
Pre-ordering the DLC awarded the bonuses to the player immediately. After the DLC's launch, they are received upon purchase (or for existing owners, upon their addition to the game, where applicable).[1] The bonuses can be picked up via theLobby Terminal.
These bonuses were added to the game when pre-orders were made available in version2.1.1,[2] though theSquid Sistersbanner was not added until Wave 1 released in version3.0.0 and theOff the Hook banner came with the5.0.1 update shortly after the showcase of the second trailer for Wave 2. Sheldon Licenses were made available to claim in version8.0.0.
Wave 1 - Inkopolis

Wave 1 - Inkopolis was released on28 February 2023 and addedInkopolis Plaza fromSplatoon as an alternatehub world accessible via thesubway station found inSplatsville. From here, players have access to services as they originally appeared inSplatoon, includingAmmo Knights,Cooler Heads,Jelly Fresh,Shrimp Kicks, andSpyke, although they share the same lineup as their Splatsville counterparts. Certain shops are run by new characters. Additionally, theSquid Sisters performCity of Color (2023) in concerts during the first half ofSplatfests and singTomorrow's Nostalgia Today during the second half, both while wearing their original outfits fromSplatoon.
TheGreat Zapfish can be seen atopInkopolis Tower and theamiibo box retains its functionality. Other features fromSplatoon 3 have also been added, such as aGrizzco Industries building and aTableturf Battle Dojo hidden behind theBooyah Base. The grate leading toOcto Valley is blocked off by a tire and a stack of boxes, thearcade machine is covered up and replaced with a terminal to remotely accessHotlantis, and theBattle Dojo has been replaced by a branch ofthe Shoal.
When Wave 1 is installed,Inkopolis News,Inkopolis Lobby,Ink Me Up,Now or Never! (Squid Sisters),City of Color,Maritime Memory,Calamari Inkantation,Bomb Rush Blush, andTide Goes Out will be unlocked in thejukebox. Additionally, the new and returning shopkeepersShelly,Annie,Jelonzo,Fred Crumbs and Spyke appear asrivals which can be challenged in the Tableturf Battle Dojo after they have been interacted with at least once.

Wave 2:Side Order is a new single-player campaign mode[3] that released on22 February 2024, featuringAgent 8, returning from theOcto Expansion. The campaign is set in theOrder Sector, and features theSpire of Order, a tall tower that resemblesDeca Tower, but devoid of life.
Off the Hook play a major role in the campaign, with the player being accompanied by thePearl Drone, andAcht also appears as a major character. Gameplay is designed to be played repeatedly and utilizes new mechanics such asPalettes andcolor chips to vary the player's abilities while battling new enemies.
When Wave 2 is installed,Spicy Calamari Inkantation,Fresh Start,Bomb Rush Blush (DJ Octavio feat. Callie),Tidal Rush,Ebb & Flow,Acid Hues,Muck Warfare,Now or Never! (Off the Hook),Color Pulse,Nasty Majesty,Shark Bytes,Fly Octo Fly - Ebb & Flow (Octo), andInto the Light are all unlocked in theJukebox. Songs fromSide Order can be unlocked by progressing through the campaign. Additionally, the returning shopkeepersFlow,Jelfonzo andBisk as well asPearl,Marina andAcht appear as rivals which can be challenged in the Tableturf Battle Dojo. The later are available after unlocking Inkopolis Square while the shopkeepers need to be interacted with at least once.

Etymology
Anexpansion pack is an add-on to a pre-existing videogame intended to expand the original content, typically sold as a separate product in the form of paid downloadable content. The "pass" part could be derived from the fact that the product allows the player to download two different pieces of downloadable content that cannot be bought seperately.
