Splash-o-matic
TheSplash-o-matic is amain weapon in theSplatoon series, made by the weapon brandNeo.
It is a short-range, high-accuracy shooter with a fire rate equal to that of theSplattershot Jr.
Appearance
The Splash-o-matic, similarly to its cousin theSploosh-o-matic, seems to be a marker or pen inside a metal frame. The marker changes color to match the user's ink. The Splash-o-matic has what appears to be a pressure sensor near the nozzle, and flanking the nozzle is a pair of levers with black handles. On the back of the Splash-o-matic is a small black attachment that supports a lever. The rings on the attachment and the lever also change color to match the user'sink. Attached to the marker are the handle and trigger.

- Each shot consumes 0.7% of the ink tank capacity.
- This allows players to fire 142 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.
- This stat can be changed withInk Saver (Main).
- When firing continuously, it shoots a bullet every 5 frames (12 shots per second).
- When firing while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.72 units per frame.
- After firing, there is a 20 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
- Each shot has a base damage of 28.
- Shots travel straight for 3 frames. After that, they may lose damage. A shot will lose damage until it reaches 14 damage at frame 15.
- Shots have a radius of 2 units.
- The angle its shots can deviate while on the ground is 2.7 degrees.
- The angle its shots can deviate while in the air is 12 degrees.
- The outer reticle immediately expands after jumping. The outer reticle will finish shrinking after 60 frames.
- The chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle increases by 10% per shot, and maximizes at a 40% chance to shoot towards the outer reticle.
- This means that it takes 4 shots to reach minimum accuracy.
- When jumping, the chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle is immediately set to 40%.
- Accuracy starts recovering 5 frames after the player stops shooting.
- Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 24 units per frame for 3 frames. Shots travel straight for 72 distance units.
- Ink droplets occur every 80 units.
- The frequency at which ink drips from a shot occurs at a rate of 1.65 droplets per shot.
- There are a total of 7 different droplet patterns that can be created while firing this weapon.
- Droplets that occur within 11 units of the player have a radius of 22 units.

The Splash-o-matic returned inSplatoon 3 with identical stats.
Its design was changed in the update preceding the release ofFresh Season 2023, with the formerly silver parts of the design now being black. This is reflected in the in-game artwork, as well.

Trivia
- In theOcto Expansion, the Splash-o-matic does not have perfect firing accuracy when jumping. This is becauseVersion 3.2.0, the version that gave the Splash-o-matic perfect accuracy when jumping, was released after the expansion and was not applied to it; Nintendo generally does not apply post-release weapon balance updates tosingle-player modes.
- InSplatoon 3, the icons for the Splash-o-matic were made darker inversion 3.0.0, probably to make it more uniform with theNeo Splash-o-matic's icons.
- During the September 2021Nintendo Direct, its set was shown to be theBurst Bomb and theZipcaster. However, this was changed to Burst Bomb andCrab Tank. Its beta set ended up being given to theSplatana Stamper.
Etymology
Splash-o-matic is derived fromSplash andAutomatic. The-o-matic suffix is also a common, cliché naming convention for technological gadgets.
シャープマーカーShāpu mākā ("Sharp Marker") references the pen-based appearance of the Splash-o-matic. The name is also to contrast it with theSploosh-o-matic. The highly accurate Splash-o-matic is named after a sharp marker pen, while the Sploosh-o-matic with its wide, cone-shaped muzzle is more akin to a bold marker pen.
