Smeared Canvas is asong performed byDeep Cut.
Description
Smeared Canvas is an energetic pop song. The song starts with an instrumental intro, then a verse sung by bothShiver andFrye. This first verse samples the melody ofGot That Treasure!. The second verse is two solo parts, first by Frye, followed by Shiver. The first verse is then repeated. Afterwards, a bridge is played featuring Frye's vocals before looping back to the intro.
This song is played during two missions inAlterna Space Center of theReturn of the Mammalians single-player campaign inSplatoon 3, first duringThe Spirit Lifter: Steerage, then immediately followed byThe Spirit Lifter: First Class. Although the song is played continuously throughout these two missions, different percussion instruments are used between them, with the transition to the different instrumental happening after the player lands onto the latter mission.
Like in many other missions, when the player has been spotted by enemies, an additional percussion track is layered on top of the music.
InSplatune 3, the track contains two loops of the version played in The Spirit Lifter: Steerage, then switches to the version played in The Spirit Lifter: First Class. The music starts fading out near the end of the second loop, but stops to maintain the volume when switching to the First Class version, then resumes fading out about 30 seconds later.
