TheLuna Blaster is amain weapon in theSplatoon series, created byNeo. It is ablaster with short range but above average fire rate, blast radius, and ink efficiency.

Description

Like otherblasters, the Luna Blaster fires an explosive round that lets it deal damage to opponents hiding behind obstacles or around corners. It takes one direct hit or two indirect hits to splat an opponent, but shooting the opponent directly rather than relying on the blast takes careful and precise aim due to the weapon's low firing rate. However, out of all blasters that can splat opponents in one direct hit, the Luna Blaster actually has the largest blast size and fastest fire rate, at the cost of having the shortest range.

Appearance

The Luna Blaster's main body is round and smooth with a hole at the end to let out blaster shots. The back half is white, while the front half changes color to match the user'sink in all games. The back half houses a handhold with the trigger on it; the trigger changes to match the user's ink color. Sticking out of the back of the Luna Blaster is a ball on the end of a thin stick (white inSplatoon, matches the user's ink color inSplatoon 2 andSplatoon 3), and an attachment that is similar but bigger (matches the user's ink color inSplatoon, white inSplatoon 2 andSplatoon 3) is placed above the hole in the front. InSplatoon, there is aNeo logo written inInkling on the back half. InSplatoon 2, the text is replaced by a faint Neo logo icon. InSplatoon 3, the parts of its casing that match the user's ink color are now semi transparent, revealing its internal components. The Neo logo is replaced by small text in gray, and there is a small seam dividing the white part of the casing into two pieces.

Additionally, inSplatoon 3, the Luna Blaster features considerably more detailed effects when firing: the colored parts of the blaster will illuminate, and the casing will split into three parts (the fore colored part, and two white parts divided along the aforementioned seam).

— In-game Description(EU/OC)
What it lacks in range, it more than makes up for in fire rate and explosive impact. This blaster-type weapon is perfect for getting up close and personal. For far away foes, build up that special gauge and blast 'em with an Inkzooka, or ruin their day with a surprise Ink Mine!

It appears in twoOcto Expansion Stations:

    Data

    • The Luna Blaster is alightweight weapon.
    • The matchmaking range is 110. The game's matchmaking system looks at a team's average matchmaking range value, and matches them against a team with a similar average.
    • The ink consumption of 7.5% and ink tank capacity of 100% allows players to fire 13 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.
    • When initially firing the weapon in humanoid form, the first shot takes 14 frames to come out.
    • When firing from swim form, the first shot takes 24 frames to come out.
    • The interval between firing and when the player is able to enter swim form or use a sub weapon is 26 frames.
    • When firing continuously, it shoots a bullet every 40 frames (1.5 shots per second).
    • When firing while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.5 units per frame.
    • After firing, there is a 55 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
    • Each shot has a base damage of 125.

    • Shots cannot ever deviate from the inner reticle while on the ground.
    • The angle its shots can deviate while in the air is 8 degrees.
    • The outer reticle immediately expands after jumping. After 25 frames, the outer reticle will start shrinking, and will finish shrinking after 70 frames.
    • When jumping, the chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle is immediately set to 50%.
    • Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 8.7 units per frame for 7 frames. Shots travel straight for 60.9 distance units.
      • After that, the shot's velocity is set to 8.484 units per frame if it is not already lower than the listed value, and decreases further as it travels.
    • Ink droplets occur every 15 units.
    • The frequency at which ink drips from a shot occurs at a rate of 6 droplets per shot.
    • There are a total of 1 different droplet patterns that can be created while firing this weapon.
    • Ink droplets have a radius of 13 units.
    • Droplets have their radius multiplied by a value ranging from 1 if they fell from a height above 100 units to 1.2 if they fell from a height below 30 units.
    • The shot explodes 11 frames after being fired.
    • The far damage radius of the explosion is 35.7 units.
    • When the shot explodes on the ground or wall, the far damage radius is 17.85 units.
    • The near damage radius of the explosion is 10 units.
      • Main Power Up increases the near damage radius up to 30 units.
    • Damage from the explosion scales from 50 at the far damage radius to 70 at the near damage radius.

    Sheldon's Introduction

TheLuna Blaster may look cute, but its short-range exploding ink shots pack a serious wallop. It's got a decent fire rate but lacks range, so it comes withSplat Bombs to keep your opponents right where you want 'em. The final blast theBaller special provides is huge, too. Think about the map terrain around you when it's time to blow!

    • The ink consumption is 7.5% per shot, allowing the user to fire 13 shots on a full ink tank.
    • When firing continuously, it shoots a bullet every 40 frames (1.5 shots per second).
    • When firing from humanoid form, the first shot takes 14 frames to come out. When firing from swim form, the first shot takes 24 frames to come out.

    • After firing, there is a 55 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
    • The damage on direct hit is 125.
    • Targets within 1.8 units of the explosion center always take 70 damage. Targets outside of this radius but inside the full blast radius of 4.0 units will take between 70 and 50 damage, depending on how close to the center they are.
    • The bullet hitbox for collisions with players has a radius of 0.3 units.
    • The bullet hitbox for collisions with the environment has a radius of 0.2 units.
    • Shots cannot ever deviate from the inner reticle while on the ground.
    • The angle its shots can deviate while in the air is 6.0 degrees.
    • The outer reticle immediately expands after jumping. After 25 frames, the outer reticle will start shrinking, and will finish shrinking after 70 frames.
    • When jumping, the chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle is immediately set to 50%.
    • Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 0.87 units per frame for 7 frames. Shots travel straight for 6.09 distance units.
      • After that, the shot's velocity is set to 0.8484 units per frame if it is not already lower than the listed value, and it loses 36% of its speed every frame (including the first frame after it stops traveling straight). Once the shot velocity decreases below a certain threshold, it will begin to be slowed less and fall faster.
    • The bullet explodes 11 frames after being fired, covering a total distance of about 7.65 units.
      • This number may vary at different firing angles.

    Sheldon's Introduction

TheLuna Blaster may look cute, but its short-range explodingink shots pack a serious wallop. If you find that your enemies are dancing just outside that range, toss a fewSplat Bombs to keep 'em on their toes. And for the ones sniping you from FAR away, fire up theZipcaster, sneak behind 'em, and... well, you know what to do from there. Really, this set is ideal for players who want to read the terrain and react to their opponents' moves.
