Jukebox

Thejukebox is a machine inSplatoon 3 that allows the player to listen to in-gamesongs in thelobby. It is located next to theCrab-N-Go stall. Players are able to request a song to play on it, which causes the selected song to play in the lobby (even if the player leaves and re-enters) until the player chooses to cancel the request. Requesting a song costs
100 per song. When using the jukebox in aPrivate Battle room, the requested music will play in the lobbies of all other players in that room as well. The music playing on the jukebox will only play while in the lobby and will have no impact on the battle music.
The jukebox was added toSplatoon 3 as part of theversion 3.0.0 update, replacing one of the two vending machines present in the lobby. Prior to this update, an unused jukebox was placed below the lobby floor, inaccessible by the player; this jukebox model had a different design than the final jukebox.[1]
Usage
The jukebox can be activated by standing in front of it and pressing. The left side of the jukebox screen displays the currently playing song, and if someone requested the song, their username is also shown. The right side shows the list of music tracks that can be requested, which are sorted into six sections (toggled between with and): Battles,Story Mode,Salmon Run, City,Side Order, and Other. Pressing allows the player to preview the first 10 seconds of the song for free. Pressing on a track prompts the player to confirm the song request, which costs
100. When a song has been requested, pressing allows the player to cancel their song request.
If a newly unlocked song is available in the jukebox, the song item and its corresponding section heading will show an exclamation mark icon. Hovering over the song removes the exclamation mark.

Trivia
- When the player has chosen a song to play, the music from theCrab-N-Go and thejellyfish barista stops playing. However, theLobby Terminal's music still plays.
- At 2AM, 10AM, and 6PM UTC, the lobby will play one of six playlists of select battle themes from previousSplatoon games, rotating through songs in a set order every 5 minutes until the hour is up. The legacy playlist will be played for all three of the designated hours in a particular day, then rotate to the next playlist in sequence for the next day.
- At the start of a legacy playlist hour, a version ofOpening will play corresponding to the game that the playlist's leading song originates from. If the jukebox screen is already open at this moment, it will continue to display the last song played as the current song. Otherwise, if the jukebox is used when this happens right after astage rotation change, the jukebox screen will display the next song to be played as the current song.
- Opening will still play at this time even during the 24-hour period after aSplatfest in which onlyDaybreaker Anthem (inSplatsville),Maritime Memory (inInkopolis Plaza), orInto the Light (inInkopolis Square) plays. When this happens, the jukebox display is glitched, showing a placeholder song name consisting of only capital Ws.[Citation needed]

- When a song playing in the lobby has not yet been unlocked in the jukebox, the jukebox screen shows a placeholder cover art with the song name and artist listed as "???" (three question marks). This can be seen with songs the player has not yet unlocked that are requested by other players in aPrivate Battle room, as well as whenDaybreaker Anthem plays after the end of a Splatfest if the player has not yet unlocked it as a selectable song. However, this does not happen whenDeepers Creepers,Yule Tide,Meadowlark,Suntan Ocean, orSoak & Stomp (Grand Mix) is playing, as they cannot be unlocked as selectable songs.
