TheInkbrush is amain weapon in theSplatoon series.

As abrush, when is pressed, it flicks weak, short-rangedink in front of the user, which can be done repeatedly at a fast rate to ink turf or splat opponents. If is held, the user pushes the Inkbrush along the ground, leaving a thin trail of ink as the user runs at a fast speed.

Compared to theOctobrush, the Inkbrush has faster movement and swing speed and lower ink consumption at the cost of less range, damage, and painted turf per swing and thinner ink trail when running.

Appearance

The Inkbrush is designed with apaint tube in the middle, connected topaintbrush bristles and a blue handle with a textured black grip. The paint tube shows the player's ink color on the label, and a glob of the player's ink coats the bristles.

The Inkbrush was released on6 June 2015 at02:00 UTC,[1] under theroller class. It comes withSprinklers and theInkstrike.

When using the Inkbrush, the player'sInkling holds the weapon on the right-hand side of its body. Usually, this does not affect the gameplay, but if a player makes a sharp left turn while in enemy ink, they get stuck in the ink.

When flicking the Inkbrush, there is a random chance that more than one glob of ink hits the opponent.

This is theInkbrush! It's similar to Roller weapons, but it paints the ground as fast as a squid can dash! It's weak and a bit narrow, but you can make up for that with Sprinklers and Inkstrikes! I would recommend this weapon to anyone who wishes to try out a new type of fighting style!(EU/OC)

A newly developed weapon with high mobility and a sturdy brush design. Its ink trail is narrow, but it paints the ground at incredible speed and delivers swift close-range attacks.
— In-Game Description
Holy Smokes, Splatfans! The Squid Research Lab just received an anonymous tip that a new weapon called theInkbrush has been discovered. It's apparently similar to a paint roller, but a bit quicker to use. It's not the strongest offensive weapon but it comes with Sprinklers and Inkstrikes to maximize inking.

The Inkbrush returns inSplatoon 3, now classified as a separatebrush class. It comes withSplat Bombs and theKiller Wail 5.1. It was originally shown in a New Year 2022 teaser on Twitter,[6] looking similar to how it does in the previous games, with the difference being that its bristles are darker, resembling thePermanent Inkbrush's bristles, but more saturated.

It appears in three missions inReturn of the Mammalians:

    Data

    • The Inkbrush is alightweight weapon.
    • The matchmaking range is 7. The game's matchmaking system looks at a team's average matchmaking range value, and matches them against a team with a similar average.
    • Ink consumption per second while sliding is 7.5%.
    • While sliding, the player's movement speed is set to 0.198 units per frame.

    Flinging ink

    • The ink consumption of 2% allows players to attack 50 times before needing to refill the ink supply.
    • When attacking, it takes 1 frame to start swinging the brush.
    • The weapon can be swung every 6 frames (10 times per second).
    • When attacking while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.05 units per frame.
    • After swinging, there is a 30 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
    • Attacks have a base damage of 30.
    • For normal attacks, ink loses damage based on distance traveled. Ink starts losing damage at 4.3 units and stops losing damage at 10.3 units. The minimum damage before time-based falloff is applied is 15.
    • If a glob of ink is in the air for more than 20 frames after being flung, it loses damage each frame until frame 40, at which point it will deal 50% of its original damage. Thus, the minimum damage that can be dealt per glob is 7.5.
    • Damage does not change based on the angle of the ink.

    Quotes

    Sheldon's Introduction

TheInkbrush is a super-lightbrushweapon that lets youink your way forward with blistering speed! There's not much room for power when you're moving that fast, but you can keep counterattacks at bay with plenty ofSplat Bombs. Add theKiller Wail 5.1 to the mix, and you've got a combo that will confuse and annoy your opponents into submission! I can see it now... You blaze across battle lines... toss a Splat Bomb, and trigger the Killer Wail just in time to headbang along as the clock runs out. Whew! That's inking outside the box!

TheInkbrush isn't the most powerful weapon, but it makes up for it with style and panache, like our new tie-dye lab coats "someone" "ordered by mistake." It can be used to advance quickly while inking turf with dizzying flourishes, which can really mess with opponents' heads.
