Ink Cannon

| “ | To fire the Ink Cannon, hold | ” |
TheInk Cannon (sometimes known simply as acannon) is a mechanic in theSplatoon series. It is a huge turret that appears in certain stages, primarily in the single-player modes,Octo Valley,Octo Canyon, and theOcto Expansion. A slightly different Ink Cannon also appears inSalmon Run andSalmon Run Next Wave, as well as in theShifty Station stageCannon Fire Pearl.
Description
Ink Cannons fire missiles which can travel great distances and deal a large amount of damage. The damage does not seem to taper off with distance from the impact point, dealing the full amount over the entire splash range. The missiles are affected by gravity and have a limited range. Firing the cannon works the same as the main weapon, as it fires with
and has an aiming reticle. Ink Cannons typically do not use any of theink from the player'sink tank. The view zooms in significantly when using an Ink Cannon, similar to using a scopedcharger. There is also a short cooldown after shooting a missile before being able to launch another missile.
The Ink Cannons inOcto Valley,Octo Canyon, and theDeepsea Metro shield the user from damage while they are operating the cannon, while the cannons inSalmon Run andSalmon Run Next Wave do not.

Salmon Run
- During theCohock ChargeKnown Occurrence, a slightly different kind of Ink Cannon appears near the shoreline. These cannons are shaped like a sphere with a muzzle protruding out and do consume the user's ink when fired, forcing the player to periodically exit the cannon to refill. When inside one of these cannons, the player's ink meter is shown along the right side of the screen. Other than this, these cannons function the same as the ones in single-player modes.
- The cannons are powerful enough to defeat anyLesser Salmonid with one shot and mostBoss Salmonids with one or two shots, depending on where they were hit.
- The player must be aware when using the cannons because they can still be hit by any Salmonids and eaten byMaws.
Shifty Station
- Cannon Fire Pearl has three Ink Cannons that look and function like the ones in Salmon Run but consume 16% of the player's ink tank with each shot rather than the usual 10%.
- NeitherInk Saver (Main) norInk Saver (Sub) affect this consumption.
Octo Expansion
The cannons in theOcto Expansion use theOcto Canyon design and function, having unlimited ink, but with theKamabo Corporation logo branded on them.
