Hero Roller
TheHero Roller is aroller inSplatoon andSplatoon 2 that is exclusively used in single player modes.
Appearance
InSplatoon, the Hero Roller looks like theSplat Roller but with a more futuristic design with a black and lime green color scheme shared with all the Hero Weapons, and many blue lights that leave a small trail asAgent 3 moves. InSplatoon 2, the Hero Roller used byAgent 4 has a new and sleeker design with yellow supports instead of black, looking similar to theCarbon Roller.

The Hero Roller functions similarly to theSplat Roller, being able to fling a decent amount of ink and spread ink by rolling it on the ground. It cannot be upgraded withPower Eggs like theHero Shot, and unlike the Hero Shot, it only comes withSplat Bombs. It is exclusively used by the player during theInkling Boy amiibo challenges, and completing them all unlocks theHero Roller Replica for purchase atAmmo Knights.

- Ink consumption while rolling is 6% per second.
- This stat can be changed withInk Saver (Main).
- Ink consumption per attack is 5%.
- This allows players to attack 20 times before needing to refill the ink supply.
- This stat can be changed with Ink Saver (Main).
- The weapon can attack with a depleted ink tank, but the damage of that attack is reduced to 40% of the normal amount.
- Rolling with a depleted ink tank will not leave a trail or damage opponents.
- When attacking, it takes 16 frames to lift the roller (0.27 seconds).
- When rolling, the player's movement speed is set to 1.2 units per frame.
- When rolling on an uninkable surface or with a depleted ink tank, the player's movement speed is set to 0.96 units per frame.
- After rolling, there is a 0.33 second cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
- After swinging, there is a 0.83 second cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
- Hitting an opponent while rolling deals 160 damage.
- Attacks have a base damage of 100.
- For normal attacks, ink loses damage based on distance traveled. Ink starts losing damage at 20 units and stops losing damage at 120 units. The minimum damage is 30.
- Ink globs travel straight for 4 frames.
- Damage does not change based on the angle of the ink.
- When rolling, the Hero Roller leaves an ink trail that is 52 units wide.

The Hero Roller is usable inOcto Canyon without the use ofamiibo and can be upgraded one level. Unlike the first game, they now come with switchablesub weapons ofSplat Bombs,Curling Bombs andAutobombs. It is loaned by Sheldon during the levelEnter the Octohurler and can be used in all other missions after beating the level. Completing all the missions in Octo Canyon with the Hero Roller unlocks theHero Roller Replica for purchase atAmmo Knights.

Hero Roller Replica

The Hero Roller Replica is a reward inSplatoon andSplatoon 2. It is unlocked inSplatoon 2 by completing all Octo Canyon levels with the Hero Roller, while inSplatoon various amiibo challenges must be completed. It is a roller-typemain weapon and is visually identical to the Hero Roller; Despite its unique appearance, it is simply a reskin of theSplat Roller from that game, sharing the same stats and loadout.
Trivia
- Callie's main weapon is shown to be the Hero Roller as it appears inSplatoon or itsreplica, likely from her time in the role of Agent 1. This is shown in her artwork for theShow No Mercy! vs. Focus on HealingSplatfest.
- The Hero Roller's design inSplatoon 2 resembles theCarbon Roller, despite its Level 1 and its associated Replica's stats being similar to theSplat Roller.
