Fred Crumbs is the shoes dealer forShrimp Kicks inInkopolis inSplatoon 3: Expansion Pass. He highly resemblesaji fry, which is a deep-fried Japanese horse mackerel dish.
Appearance
Similar toCrusty Sean, Fred Crumbs gives the impression of a humanoid deep-fried food. He has two fins, with his right holding a slice of lemon. His lips are a bluish-purple and his eyes have black strokes that are angled, giving the impression of squinted eyes. He wears a piercing on his tail, which is located on the top of his body, and his shoes can alternate between a pair of SilverHi-Horses, a pair of whiteTenya Octos, a pair of red, white, and yellowSquidkid Vs, and a pair of yellow, orange and greenMako Bucket Hi-Tops.
According to a Famitsu interview, Fred Crumbs was just an ordinary mackerel who became fried because when applying for work at Shrimp Kicks, as he found out one of the hiring requirements was an "extra crispy" fashion sense.[1]
Personality and traits
Like Crusty Sean before him, Fred Crumbs displays a friendly attitude, but unlike Crusty Sean, he speaks in a "cool" fashion, using words like "yo", extending syllables, and general informal speech.
Quotes
| “ | And here we haveFred Crumbs. He's newly filleted and deep-fried, as the job posting atShrimp Kicks called for someone with "extra crispy" fashion sense. Despite this misunderstanding, Fred knows his shoes and is reportedly pleased that he can now wear both a left and a right. | ” |

When selecting a pair of shoes:
- "You want those?"
When selecting a pair of already-owned shoes:
- "Hey, you've already got a pair of those. Wanna pump up thestar power of your pair, ortrade yours in for the ones we've got?"
When deciding whether to exchange a pair of shoes:
- "Thestar power and anysecondary abilities will be reset, OK?"
When trying to trade in a pair of shoes that has the same main ability:
- "Hey, those have the same primary ability, so they're like mayo and aioli, you know? Same thing, different name! Wait...are they the same?"
When selecting a pair of already-owned shoes with max star power:

Dutch
When a player below level 4 enters the shop:
- "Hé, hé! Alles blits? Wat zie jij er... minder vers uit dan verwacht. Sorry, mijn schoenen zijn ontworpen voor iemand met minstensniveau 4. Ik verzin het ook niet zelf. Ga in delobby watGrondoorlogen uitvechten, of zo. Dan praten we daarna verder."
- (Hey, hey! Everything all right?[a] What do you look... less fresh than expected. Sorry, my shoes are designed for someone with at leastlevel 4. I don't make it up myself. Go fight out someTurf War battles in thelobby, or something. Then we'll continue our talking after that.)
When a player at level 4 or above enters the shop for the first time:
- "Hé, hé! Alles blits? Welkom in mijn winkel, De Schoener! Hier ga je nooit de boot in! O, moet je jou zien! Jij bent echt kakeltjevers! Dan kan ik je meteen de hele collectie showen. Kijk al die schoenen eens shinen!"
- (Hey, hey! Everything all right?[a] Welcome to my store, Shrimp Kicks! You'll never go wrong here! Oh, look at you! You're totally farm-fresh! Then I can show you the whole collection immediately. Look at all those shoes shine!)
- (You do already know that our shoes are equipped with various usefulabilities, right? Thankfully. I didn't feel like having to explain that. All I know is that they look fresh, that they smell fresh, and that you can use them to do fresh things. For info you simply press.)
When a player at level 10 or above enters the shop for the first time:
- "Hé, hé! Alles blits? Welkom in De Schoener! Voor wie er nooit schoen genoeg van heeft! O, hé hé hé! Jij bent oké! Jij bent echt wel vers genoeg voor onze nieuwste modelletjes."
- (Hey, hey! Everything all right?[a] Welcome to Shrimp Kicks! For those who can't get enough of it![b] Oh, hey hey hey! You're A-okay! You're most definitely fresh enough for our latest little models.)
When a player at level 20 or above enters the shop for the first time:
- "Hé, hé! Alles blits? Welkom in De Schoener! Tijd om schoen schip te maken? Joh! Jij bent nog veel verser dan je al was! Daarom kom je natuurlijk ook weer naar mijn winkel. Jij weet waar je echte versheid kunt vinden!"
- (Hey, hey! Everything all right?[a] Welcome to Shrimp Kicks! Time to make a fresh start?[b] Dude! You're so much fresher than you already were! Which of course is why you came back to my store. You know where to find genuine freshness!)
When a player at level 30 or above enters the shop for the first time:
- "Hé, hé! Alles blits? Welkom in De Schoener! De hipste stappers, schoen aan de haak! Wacht, is mijn versheidsmeter kapot, of is jouw versheid onmeetbaar groot? Ontzettend bedankt dat je m'n bescheiden winkeltje komt bezoeken."
- (Hey, hey! Everything all right?[a] Welcome to Shrimp Kicks! The trendiest of sneakers, no strings attached![b] Wait, is my freshness meter broken, or is your freshness immeasurable? An incredible thank you for coming to visit my modest little store.)
When spending at least 100,000 cash for the first time:
- "Hé hé, blitskikker. Jij staat altijd vooraan in de winkel als er nieuwe schoenen worden gedropt, en dat vinden we cool. Echt waar. Daarom willen we je wat geven. Dit is speciaal voor de allerverste vaste klanten. Eenbadge! Om te showen dat wij je cool genoeg vinden voor een badge. Geen dank, weet je."
- (Hey hey, fashionista. You're always first in line at the store when new shoes are dropped, and we think that's cool. We really do. That's why we want to give you something. This is just for the very freshest regulars. Abadge! To show that we think you're cool enough for a badge. Don't mention it, you know.)
When spending at least 1,000,000 cash for the first time:
- "Gup, jij hebt echt zó'n hoop schoenen gekocht bij ons! Jij bent voor ons pas echt een collector's item. Dus daarom heb jij wat bijzonders verdiend. We geven onze specialebadge alleen aan de allerblitste guppen. En bij die guppenclub hoor jij. Dat ding is zo zeldzaam dat zelfs ik hem voor het eerst zie, en ik werk hier! Daar mag je oprecht trots op zijn. Ga dat ding showen!"
- (Gup, you've seriously bought such a lot of shoes from us! You are for us a true collector's item. So that's why you have deserved something special. We give our specialbadge only to the most fashionable of guppies. And that guppy club is where you belong. That thing is so rare that even I see it for the first time, and I work here! That is something you can be genuinely proud of. Go show that thing off!)
When entering the shop without an internet connection:
- "Hé, hé! Aaaa... Dit is helemaal niet blits. Je bent offline. Jij probeert offline schoenen te kopen? Hoe zie je dat voor je? Maat, ga snel naar delobby en maak verbinding met hetinternet!"
- (Hey, hey! Aaaa... This isn't fashionable at all. You're offline. You're trying to buy shoes offline? How do you picture that? Mate, quickly go to thelobby and connect to theinternet!)
When entering the shop:
- "Alles blits, gup?"
- (Everything all right, gup?)[a]
When the shop stocks a pair of already-owned shoes for the first time:
- "Hé, hé! We hebben een stel schoenen in de winkel waar je al een paar van hebt. Je zou je schoenen kunnenomruilen of dezeldzaamheid van jouw paar kunnen verhogen! Eenhogere zeldzaamheid geeft je schoenen extra effectvakjes of extra ervaringspunten.Omruilen kun je doen als het hoofdeffect van het andere paar schoenen je leuker lijkt."
- (Hey, hey! We have a couple of shoes in the store that you already have a pair of. You couldexchange your shoes or boost thestar power of your pair! Ahigher star power gives your shoes extra ability slots or extra experience points. You couldexchange if the other pair of shoes' main ability seems nicer to you.)
When selecting a pair of shoes:
- "Die vind je mooi?"
- (That one you like?)
When selecting a pair of already-owned shoes:
- "Hé, is dat wat. Je hebt die schoenen al. Wil je dezeldzaamheid van jouw paarverhogen, of die van jouomruilen voor die van ons?"
- (Hey, that's funny. You already have those shoes. Would you like toboost your pair'sstar power, orexchange yours for ours?)
When deciding whether to exchange a pair of shoes:
- "Dezeldzaamheid en alleextra effecten worden geschrapt, oké?"
- (Thestar power and allsecondary abilities will be discarded, okay?)
When trying to trade in a pair of shoes that has the same main ability:
- "Wacht even, die hebben al hetzelfde hoofdeffect. Dat is alsof je jus d'orange inwisselt voor sinaasappelsap. Dat schiet niet op."
- (Hold on, those already have the same main ability. That's like exchanging jus d'orange for orange juice. That's no use.)
When selecting a pair of already-owned shoes with max star power:
- "Hmm, die schoenen ga je echt niet nóg zeldzamer kunnen maken, hoor."
- (Hmm, those shoes' star power you're really not going to be able to boost EVEN further, you know.)
When selecting a pair of shoes already bought on the same day:
- "Jammerrr, maar daar heb ik net het laatste paar van verkocht."
- (Bummerrr, but of those I've just sold the last pair.)
When selecting a pair of shoes already bought on the same day in Splatsville:
- "Sorry, die zijn op."
- (Sorry, we're out of those.)
After buying a pair of shoes:
- "Meteen aandoen?"
- (Put on immediately?)
After the player is offered to equip a purchase:
- "Lekker bezig. En vergeet niet dat je altijd andere schoenen kunt aandoen in het menuUITRUSTING. Simpel als wat."
- (Nice going. And don't forget that you can always put on other shoes in the menuGEAR. Simple as that.)
When not having enough cash:
- "O jee, o jee, ik zie de bodem van je portemonnee."
- (Oh gee, oh gee, it's the bottom of your wallet I see.)

Tableturf Battle
Fred Crumbs is one of the rivals in theTableturf Battle Dojo. He becomes available after the player purchased theSplatoon 3: Expansion Pass and has visited Shrimp Kicks at least once. He has an aggressive playstyle that prioritizes covering turf, and matches against him are played onBox Seats. Fred Crumbs's deck features both theTentatek andTakorokagear brand cards, which are mostly centered around shoes as well as being the sponsors for the two Divisions inX Battle. The rest of the deck is mostly themed aroundOctarians with a fewSalmonid cards, likely serving as reference to food. Additionally, his deck is the only of an Inkopolis Plaza shopkeeper to not use the card of his Splatsville equivalent,Mr. Coco. This is likely to keep the total number of ink spaces lower than most rivals in order to fit Box Seats' low total space count, similar toStaff's deck.
