Commander Tunic
TheCommander Tunic is a piece ofclothing inSplatoon 3.
InSplatoon 3, it is a 0-, 1-, or 2-star item produced byGrizzco and comes with a random primaryability generated when it is received. It is only available as a reward fromSalmon Run Next Wave, first as the monthly gear for May 2023, and later in a Pink Capsule. It cannot be ordered throughMurch.
Appearance
The Commander Tunic is a long-sleeved teal tunic with a high collar. It has two yellow stripes running down the front and back, one going over each shoulder. There is a yellow and red badge on the left breast. Around the wearer's waist is a black belt with a silver squid-shaped buckle.

Abilities
The Commander Tunic comes with a random primaryability that can also appear as secondary abilities, which prevents the wearer from havingAbility Doubler,Haunt,Ninja Squid,Respawn Punisher, orThermal Ink as they are exclusive toClothing and cannot appear as secondary abilities. This primary ability is assigned randomly when the item is received. The Commander Tunic may appear as a 0-star item with one additional slot for secondary abilities, a 1-star item with two additional slots for secondary abilities, or a 2-star item with three additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased withSuper Sea Snails for 10 (fourth) or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Sinceit is made by theGrizzcogear brand, it has equal chances to roll any secondary ability.

- The Commander Tunic appears to be inspired by the uniform worn by Imperial officers from theStar Wars franchise, although the color has been changed, and the buckle is squid-shaped instead of rectangular. The Commander Tunic may also take inspiration from the Starfleet uniforms used in theStar Trek films II through VI.
